Chapter 50

As he analysed the glass, a figure in the shadows observed him, realizing that their plan had been foiled. The would-be poisoner had underestimated Ming Chen's vigilance.

With the poisoned glass hidden in his hand, Ming Chen discreetly sought out He Long, who was engaged in a conversation with some guests. He subtly gestured for He Long to join him, careful not to arouse suspicion.

He Long excused himself from the conversation, his curiosity piqued. Ming Chen led him to a quieter area of the room and revealed the poisoned glass.

"He Long, someone tried to harm you," Ming Chen whispered urgently, his eyes filled with concern. "This glass was meant for you, but I switched it in time."

He Long's expression shifted from curiosity to shock and then anger as he realized the gravity of the situation. The person responsible for this attempted poisoning was not only threatening his life but also endangering the lives of everyone present.

Ming Chen, with his quick thinking, had prevented a potential disaster, and he knew they had to act swiftly to expose the culprit. They decided to discreetly inform He Long's security team and engage them in the investigation.

As the party continued, Ming Chen and He Long who have made their relationship aware to others were given congratulations by others. They were walking around greeting the guests in the hall. As they were talking to one guest, one of the body guards had come up to He Long and whispered something in his ear, immediately He Long's body tensed up. 

He Long looked at Ming Chen and excused himself. After seeing He Long leave, Ming Chen also excused himself and followed behind him. He Long could hear Ming Chen following behind him and stop in his track and waited for Ming Chen to catch up to him. Once Ming Chen caught up to him, the two gave a knowing look to each other and followed behind the body guard. 

The bodyguard took the two to the side of the room where a man dress as a waiter was tired to the chair. Ming Chen wasn't surprised or scared, He Long was an Emperor, so he had his ways of getting people to talk, he didn't see why that would change just because he is now, He Long. 

He Long who just wanted to spent time with Ming Chen and enjoy his mother's birthday party was really annoyed that this peaceful day was disturbed. He Long took off his other jacket and rolled up his sleeved. At this moment, while the body guards were scared of, He Long, Ming Chen on the other hand felt his cheeks heat up a little. Seeing He Long like this made Ming Chen's heart flutter. 

He Long mercilessly gripped the man hair and pushed his head up to see his face. He Long laughed once he saw his face. He knew who it was and let the handful of hair go.

"Get rid of him and I will deal with the rest", He Long said as he fixed his sleeves and left with a dazed Ming Chen in his arms. Ming Chen was still thinking about He Long's strong and tone arms and couldn't help but blush. 

"Am I that good looking that its making you blush", He Long said as he poked Ming Chen's cheek. He couldn't help but tease him and Ming Chen looked especially cute when he blushes. 

With the suspect found and been taken care of the two of them can finally enjoy the birthday party, they headed back into the hall and mingled with the guests. 

The celebration took on a new level of joy and unity. He Long and Ming Chen spent the evening surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and toasts to the remarkable woman who had brought them all together.

As the night wore on, Ming Chen and He Long found a moment of solitude on a balcony overlooking the garden. The stars twinkled overhead, and the tranquillity of the night was a stark contrast to the bustling celebration inside.

He Long wrapped his arm around Ming Chen's shoulders, gazing at the moonlit garden below. "Thank you for being here with me, for being a part of my world," he said, his voice filled with genuine gratitude.

Ming Chen turned to He Long, his eyes reflecting the love and devotion he felt. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Your family means the world to me, just as you do."

Their fingers intertwined, and they stood in companionable silence, watching the night and cherishing the shared moment. The celebration continued inside, but for Ming Chen and He Long, the night held a deeper significance – a bond that had grown even stronger in the presence of family and the warmth of a mother's love.

The night wore on, and the birthday celebration was a resounding success. Ming Chen and He Long left the party, hand in hand, feeling the warmth and love of their family envelope them. It was a night they would cherish and remember, a beautiful testament to the love they shared and the family they had become a part of.

The next few months have been peaceful for both Ming Chen and He Long. Although the both of them were busy with work, they made time for each other. During this time He Long and Ming Chen would spend time with He Long's parents and Ming Chen's grandfather. The three people had gotten close over the last few months and were already planning the weeding for the two. 

They all enjoyed time with each other and when it was just, He Long and Ming Chen, they would plan for their future too. As the saying went, all good things must come to an end, just like their peaceful time. 

Ming Chen was at the He mansion having lunch when he got a phone call. He didn't need to see the caller ID to see who it was as he had put a special ring tone for when his grandfather called him.
