Chapter 51

Ming Chen excused himself, as he didn't want to disturb the others who were still eating. He walked away from the dining room and into the living room. He picked up the phone, but before he could say anything, his grandfather spoke first.

"Come home right now," before Ming Chen could reply, he heard the beeps of the phone indicating that his grandfather had ended the call. Ming Chen started to feel worried in his heart. His grandfather was never one to be that serious with him, even in serious situations. This meant that it was something his grandfather wasn't even aware of.

Ming Chen went back into the dining room to say goodbye to the He couple and He Long. The He couple could see the urgency on Ming Chen's face and didn't ask him about the phone. Ming Chen was preoccupied with the phone call that he didn't notice someone following him until he started the car and heard the passenger door open.

Ming Chen saw He Long sitting in the passenger seat with his seatbelt ready to go. Ming Chen looked at him with appreciation in his eyes. The two sat in silence as Ming Chen drove to the Ming mansion.

Once there, Ming Chen was greeted by his uncle Gu, who had a solemn look on his face. He guided Ming Chen and He Long into the main room where all the Ming family members were present, even his third uncle who rarely visited the mansion besides his grandfather's birthday. Ming Chen knew this was serious.

His grandfather was seated on the main sofa, supported by his walking stick. His grandfather's face didn't look well, and Ming Chen knew this situation was very serious. Ming Chen stepped into the room and was immediately given dirty looks by his father and family, as well as his second uncle. His third uncle just gave him a knowing smile. Ming Chen went and greeted his grandpa and was seated next to him.

Once Ming Chen was seated, his grandpa turned his face to him and handed him a letter. Ming Chen was clueless about what was going on, but he took the letter from his grandpa regardless. He felt like he was holding a bomb, and it could explode anytime, but seeing He Long standing by him, Ming Chen felt relieved.

He opened the letter to see documentation stating that he had no right to claim the Ming family inheritance as he wasn't a son of the Ming family. Ming Chen was shocked at first, but once the shock settled, he couldn't help but laugh out loud. Ming Yue and Ming Shen, along with their families, had grim looks on their faces.

Ming Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He could tell whose idea this was and looked towards his father and second uncle. Ming Chen wanted to confront them but was stopped by He Long, who shook his head and indicated towards his grandfather.

The old head of the Ming family, Ming Chen Ying, had kept quiet since the morning when Ming Yue brought out the letter, and it was only now that he opened his mouth.
