"I don't believe for a second that Ming Chen isn't the son of the Ming family," Grandpa Ming said, showing his support for Ming Chen. Ming Yue spoke up and said, "Father, you might not want to believe it, but the timing of when Jing Xiao got pregnant doesn't add up at all. There is no way Ming Chen is my son," Ming Yue said with certainty. Ming Chen's mother, who was called Jing Xiao, and his father were apparently high school sweethearts and were madly in love, so they married young.
Ming Chen wasn't their first child; he was meant to have an older sister, but unfortunately, due to his mother's health, his older sister passed away before she could be born. Ming Chen wasn't sure how his parents' relationship had gotten to this point. They were once known as the most loving couple in the city, and now just the mention of his mother made his father disgusted. "Hmph, if you say the sky is purple, that doesn't mean it's true. I will prove that Ming Chen is a blood member of the Ming family," Grandpa Ming said as he got out his phone and dialed someone. "Ah, Dr. Yu, I need a favor from you. Can you bring your team and all the necessary equipment needed to do a paternity test? Yes, yes, much appreciated," Grandpa Ming said as he spoke on the phone with a man named Dr. Yu.
No one had anything else to say or add; even his father was left speechless that his grandfather sided with Ming Chen and not him. Ming Chen's father was giving him a dirty look, and if looks could kill, Ming Chen would have died a million times already. It was about 30 minutes before Dr. Yu and his team arrived at the Ming mansion. Everyone inside the mansion looked at the new arrivals with anticipation. Ming Chen's second uncle, Ming Shen, and his father, Ming Yue, for some reason, were already convinced that Ming Chen wasn't a Ming family member, and they seemed rejoiced as if he was already kicked out of the family. There were also a few other people—the families of Ming Chen's grand uncles. He wasn't close to them, but he wasn't on their bad side either. Ming Chen could tell that many of the people didn't want to be there, including his third uncle. Dr. Yu and his team had set up the equipment and asked who the test was for, and Ming Chen walked up to Dr. Yu and introduced himself. "Hello, Dr. Yu. My name is Ming Chen, and I would like to get a paternity test done with my father to prove that I'm a Ming family member," Ming Chen said, turning the tables on his father, as if to say that Ming Chen was the one who wanted to do all this, not his father. Both Ming Chen and his father, Ming Yue, got their blood drawn in front of others.
Everyone watched what Dr. Yu and his team were doing to ensure that there was no tampering, including Grandpa Ming. He watched closely as the blood was drawn and put into the machine to be tested. Dr. Yu advised that it could take around an hour for the test to come back. Ming Chen didn't want to wait around in the living room for an hour, especially with his father and second uncle constantly glaring at him.
