Dr. Yu went out and retrieved another piece of paper; it looked similar to the one Ming Chen and Ming Yue had for a paternity test. Dr. Yu looked at Grandpa Ming, as if to ask permission to reveal the information on the piece of paper. Grandpa Ming nodded, and Dr. Yu cleared his throat.
"According to the paternity test done for Ming Yue and Ming Chen Ying, there is no blood relation between the two." It felt like Dr. Yu had dropped a bomb inside the room. Ming Chen, who was in shock from finding out that he wasn't a Ming family member, was even more shocked that his father wasn't one either.
Ming Yue, who felt like he was on top of the world, now felt like the floor was crumbling beneath him, and he fell into the depths of despair. Ming Yue being shocked would be an understatement; he looked towards his father and slowly walked towards him, each step trembling. He suddenly knelt in front of him.
"Father, t-this has to be a joke, right?" Ming Yue said as he pointed towards Dr. Yu and the piece of paper he was holding. Grandpa Ming just looked at Ming Yue but didn't say anything to him. He then looked back up at Dr. Yu.
"Dr. Yu, can you reveal the rest of the information, please, so that we can all be done with it?" Grandpa Ming said as he sighed. Dr. Yu heard this and stumbled around before he found an envelope. What kind of information it held wasn't known by anyone but Grandpa Ming and Dr. Yu.
Dr. Yu slowly opened the envelope, and inside were multiple letters and a DNA test result. Dr. Yu's hands trembled as he looked from the letters to Grandpa Ming. Dr. Yu couldn't work up the courage to reveal such a big secret. With the items in his hand, he walked up to Grandpa Ming and handed them to him.
"I'm sorry, Master Ming, but I don't think I should be the one to reveal such a big family secret. This should be something between your family and not an outsider like me," Dr. Yu said as he bowed to Grandpa Ming and left with his team following right behind him. During this whole time, Ming Yue was still seated on the floor, still in a state of shock.
Grandpa Ming looked at all the letters and then back up at all his children. When he looked past Ming Yue and Ming Shen, his eyes didn't reveal any love or care. It was only when he looked at his youngest son, Ming Jiang, that his eyes were filled with love and care—the same way they looked at Ming Chen and Jing Xiao.
"I have kept this secret for over 40 years and had planned to take it to my grave, but to think my hand would be forced to reveal all this today," Grandpa Ming said, looking at everyone inside the room. Grandpa Ming started telling everything from the beginning.
It turned out that Grandpa Ming's wife, whom he never talked about, had cheated on him twice with his younger brother. Meaning his first two sons, Ming Yue and Ming Shen, were not his own children by blood. The reason why he still stayed married to her was because of a promise he had made to his dying father that no matter what, he would never divorce her. However, Grandpa Ming had planned on divorcing her anyway after his father had passed away.
