CHAPTER SIX: CAFETERIA SCENARIO

“Did she just compare herself to Rosa?”

“Yeah, I pity Rosa”

I looked at Rosa and smiled

“You can mind your business now, talking is over” I said facing Samson and referring to everyone

“You are so ugly that if being beautiful was a crime, you are safe” Samson said and everyone busted into laughter except from Margaret, Gabriel and… Rosa?

“Rosa, are you laughing?”

“Good morning class” a female Spanish teacher entered the class interrupting my question to Rosa

Rosa went back to her seat almost immediately, was she laughing at what Samson said to me?

After class, the bell rang for…

“Let’s go eat, it is break time” the guy sitting on my left said to his friend

I put my IPad and notebooks in my school bag and took my ID card before leaving for the cafeteria since it is said in the rules that, without your ID card you can’t get free food from the cafeteria

I stood up from my chair and faced Margaret “Let’s go to the cafeteria together” I said to her and she smiled in return. Gosh, this girl is pretty why the discrimination?

Margaret stood up and we walked together until…

“Christiana!” Rosa called my name, both Margaret and I halted in our footsteps

I turned to face her and saw her smile “don’t tell me you are going without me?” she asked as she tagged her ID card to her chest

“Why were you laughing at Samson’s lame joke?” I asked her

“Jeez Rosa, don’t answer her. We can go to the cafeteria together, she is talking as if the joke isn’t a fact” the girl sitting beside Rosa said

“Rosa, are you going to answer me and follow me to the cafeteria?” I asked her as I looked at her

Rosa looked at me and then smiled before turning to the other girl “Why don’t we all go to the cafeteria together?”

“Eww… I can’t walk with her” the other girl said as she walked out of the class eyeing me

I am sure she didn’t enter this school through scholarship because the girl gave off this rich girl vibe

“Why were you laughing at Samson’s lame joke?” I asked her as she walked toward me

“I wasn’t laughing at his joke but at the students’ contagious laugh” Rosa shrugged smiling as if it was a normal thing

“What is the difference?” I asked her as I felt irritated as she smiled for no reason

“I am sorry, I won’t do that again” she apologized as she pulled her ears with both her hands to show how sincere she is

“Whatever, let just go to the cafeteria. I am hungry” I said as I turned around and walked with Margaret as Rosa also followed smiling

“Thanks for forgiving me” I heard Rosa apologize

We got to the cafeteria got what we need for free since we are with our ID card

“Rosa, come sit with us. Don’t tell me you are going to sit beside those two odd girls” Samson shouted so we can hear from his table

Gabriel sat with them; maybe they are related since he gives the same vibe as them

“Dude, aren’t you tired of saying the same words all over and over again?” Gabriel said as if supporting me

I am glad that one person from their clique supports me at least

I went to sit on a vacant table along with Rosa and Margaret

“Gabriel, we are childhood friends, don’t tell me you are supporting that fart” he said to Gabriel and that disgusted me right away since I got Ramen and rice in my plate, saying that can irritate my meal

I just thank God that my table is two tables away from their table, so I stood up and walked towards there not wanting to cause commotion since the cafeteria is filled with different students from different classes

“Samson when you are talking you talk quietly, there are people eating foods around here, you don’t want to disgust them with your filthy words and thanks Gabriel” I smiled and faced Gabriel

“Jeez… you just even polluted my food and never you talk to Gabriel like that”

“I just said thanks, did I say something else?”

“Christiana, can you please go back to your seat and don’t mind what Samson says?” Gabriel asked looking at me with an expressionless face as if tired of hearing Samson and I argue

“Okay Gabriel, I will go sit down and enjoy my lunch since you say so”

“Do you like her? Eww… It is so disgusting to think of that” Mones who have not talked before said

“I never said I liked her, I am just having headache of you prolonging what happened in the class to the cafeteria” Gabriel said sincerely

Well, I am not annoyed because I never thought he would like me before

I decided to walk back to my seat since Gabriel shunned his friend

“Christiana, thanks for helping me back in the class” Margaret said as I sit down as I ate my Ramen with rice. Yum!

“No problem!” I waved my hands as if to assure her that it is nothing “you are very cute, I just don’t know why the students think you are not” I said as I swallowed the food in my mouth

“Thanks, everyone have different thoughts about others I guess” she shrugged as she ate dropped her fried chicken on her plate

“You might be correct but that doesn’t give them the right to discriminate. I even thought that this school will be free of students that discriminate but I guess I was wrong then” I shrugged off the thoughts

“It is almost all schools that you will see students that discriminate, all one have to do is to stand strong and know who you are and not what others dictate to you” she said using words of inspiration

“Thanks, I didn’t even take the words to heart because I know that I am beautiful in my own way and no one can say I am not when they can’t create one” I smiled as I put another round of Ramen into my mouth

“I got a question for you Rosa” I said facing Rosa as she dropped her fruit back into her plate after taking a bite from it

“Go on” she said nodding her head in agreement

“Okay” I said as I dropped my chopping sticks on my plate and faced her “If you were given opportunity to date Samson, would you?”
