Chapter 103

-POV MC-

I dodged an axe before severing the arm holding said axe with a sword strike.

I took control of my falcon and then gained a clearer understanding of my surroundings. I was gradually being surrounded by them, while the rest tried to bypass me on the left to continue running and get their ships out of the harbor to escape our encirclement.

I raised my left arm and pushed it violently forward while activating my telekinesis, all the soldiers on my left were thrown against the wall and fell stiff on the ground, dead or unconscious. I then pulled the debris and what remained of the houses towards me to create a kind of semicircle behind me before magically igniting my sword and slashing the air, triggering a wave of fire that ignited the debris.

I smiled and twirled my sword before saying, "It's time to say your prayers."

The armored giant I had identified as Victarion Greyjoy charged at me with his axe. I sidestepped the path of his axe and then struck his helmet with the pommel of my sword. He staggered back dazed, but I didn't give him time to comprehend what was happening, as I plunged my sword into his abdomen.

He coughed up some blood and then grabbed me, screaming like a madman, "WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE."

As if triggering mental commands in the minds of all those who followed him, they all threw themselves at me, repeating the same phrase.

I frowned and ignited my sword again; his armor melted as his body fell to ashes. I took the opportunity to free myself from his grasp before beginning to slaughter all those who attacked me.

I had no trouble fighting them, as my reflexes and physical abilities were three times better than the best among them, but I found it hard to find a place to move as they tried to corner me by using themselves as meat shields for their comrades.

"Damn fools," I thought, decapitating the followers of the Drowned God one after another.

-POV Paxter Redwyne-

I landed and immediately took the lead of my men while letting my guards surround me for protection. Corian, the leader of the fifth legion, quickly gave his orders and then ran straight ahead to start the encirclement of Lordsport and block all exits for the ironborn trying to flee.

-30 minutes later-

Half an hour later, the encirclement of Lordsport was complete, all the soldiers had successfully sealed off all the exits from these ruins, but there was one problem: the king had disappeared into the sea of ironborn.

"FIND THE KING IMMEDIATELY."

-POV Viserys Targaryen-

Learning that Aegon had plunged into the enemy army and had disappeared, I felt a twinge of anticipation deep inside me. I anticipated the possibility that he was dead and that I would become king, but that hope vanished when I heard:

"We have found the king!!!"

"We have found the king!!!"

I spurred my horse in the direction of the cries, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw upon arriving at the location where the soldiers had found him.

At the top of a pile of corpses, Aegon was sitting with one leg folded toward him while the other dangled freely in the air, his arm resting on his knee holding his face marked by exhaustion.

Below the small mountain of corpses, Ghost lay there, ready to tear apart anyone, while around him, the landscape was…bloody.

It was a damn slaughterhouse: arms, legs, and headless corpses were stacked under him and paved the streets.

Looking closer, some of the ironborn corpses had no flesh on their bones, and even their bones were black, a sign of a charred corpse whose flesh had been reduced to ash.

"He did this all by himself," I thought, feeling my heart beat a little faster.

Approaching him, I noticed his eyes were white, and a tiny blue light shone from them. He smiled and then said in an almost mocking but clearly exhausted tone:

"Your heart beats too fast; it's almost as if you're afraid of something, Viserys."

I forced a smile on my face and then said, "I'm glad you're alright."

He jumped onto Ghost's back, and then his eyes returned to their original form. Ghost leaped just in front of my horse, which reared up, and I saw Aegon lower his eyes with his mask full of royal dignity and say, "I'm proud of you, my uncle. You fought well today. You have honored our House, our ancestors, and the name you bear."

I lowered my head, slightly flattered, and then he said, "I'm tired. I leave it to you to finish all this."

"What's the order?" I asked.

"Total extermination."
