-Chapter 129-

-Chapter 129-

-POV MC-

I waited in front of the castle gates with the 30,000 soldiers of my army massed behind me at the gates of Dreadfort.

Calm, I said and did absolutely nothing because I knew perfectly well that there was only one possible outcome: my victory.

"What are we waiting for?" asked my uncle.

I didn't answer and simply waited because I knew it was now just a matter of seconds.

'Speak of the devil,' I thought to myself as I saw the gates of the Dreadfort open.

"THE GATES ARE OPENING!" shouted the northern soldiers.

I smiled as the gates opened, then I said, "Here are my future vassals."

A tide of men emerged from the Dreadfort, led by a man in steel greaves.

This man knelt three meters from me and cried out, "We surrender to His Majesty King Aegon Targaryen, the Sixth of His Name."

"Where is Roose Bolton?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

Walton looked back, and a man brought a chest which he opened in front of me.

I raised my eyebrows at the contents of this chest and heard my uncle utter a sort of grunt before saying, in a tone full of contempt, "Traitor."

In the chest lay the heads of Roose Bolton, Barbrey Dustin, Arnolf Karstark, and Mors Umber.

I felt a small smile come over my face before saying, "Perfect, I'm glad I wasn't wrong about you."

"Thank you, Your Majesty," he said, bowing his head with tremendous humility.

I smiled, then said, "As promised, you are now under my protection. This also applies to you, members of the Golden Company. Surrender all your weapons and submit to my authority, and your lives will be spared."

Walton laid down his weapons and then all the others did the same, one after the other.

-POV Daenerys Targaryen-

"We are approaching Lhazar very quickly, Your Grace," said Ser Jorah, his voice still hoarse from the smoke he had inhaled in the Blaze of Meereen.

I nodded without saying anything, completely discouraged since we had lost Meereen.

I looked at the 1,800 last Unsullied around me who were encircling me in a protective formation.

I sighed, thinking, 'It's all my fault, everyone who died did so because of me. If only I had been more humble, if only I had gone to Westeros, they would still be alive.'

"It's not your fault," said Missandei on a horse next to me.

I turned my head towards her, and she said, "All the Unsullied here are fearless soldiers ready to die for you and only for you. As long as you do not give up, their sacrifices will have meaning. They fight for freedom, they fight for you."

Her statement shocked me, then I softly said, regaining my reason, "You are right, I cannot give up."

Although my determination and will to free the slaves from the clutches of the barbaric millennia-old slave traditions of Slaver's Bay troubled me, one major problem kept gnawing at my mind.

'Which side is my nephew Aegon VI on?'

-Begin Flashback-

While I was in the throne room surrounded by my guard, waiting for news of the fires, Ser Jorah burst into the room running and knelt, shouting:

"Your Majesty!"

"Ser Jorah," I said before being interrupted by him, panicked.

"We no longer have time to chat, prepare your belongings, it's a ruse by the enemy, and we've fallen into their trap. We absolutely must gather the Unsullied and prepare a plan to flee Meereen," he said.

It was only when he looked up at me that I saw the arrow that had pierced his shoulder and the blood that flowed from it.

"Ser Jorah, you are wounded!" I said, horrified.

Before I could say anything else, about fifty men entered shortly after him, and I widened my eyes, recognizing the person who led them.

"You are the man who kidnapped my brother!" I said, remembering him.

The man slightly raised his eyebrows and then said, "I did not kidnap him; I freed him from the cage he was in. Today, he is back where his true place is in Westeros, as a Prince and Dragon Rider."

'The rumors were true then; Viserys is also linked to one of my children,' I thought, annoyed, remembering the theft of my eggs.

As I pondered, this man advanced but was blocked by the Unsullied gathered in the throne room.

"Are you responsible for the fires ravaging my city?"

"Yes," he said indifferently.

I was about to order the Unsullied to eliminate them, but he preempted me and said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

"Why?"

"Use your head for once."

"I am an assassin. If I had really wanted to harm you, I would not have come to confront the last line of defense protecting you so openly."

"That's no proof of your good faith," I said, gritting my teeth.

"Do as you see fit, but you only have very little time before the enemy uses the secret passages of the pyramids that we used to enter and kill all your vassals."

It immediately struck me, 'How could they have entered when all the entrances were barricaded and guarded by the Unsullied?'

'If he's lying, then he's wiped out, without our noticing, all the defense squads in record time, which is impossible. But if he's telling the truth, then he has no reason to lie since we had no knowledge of his plan.'

'What should I do?'

'If I trust him and we end up trapped, I will have led everyone to slaughter, but on the other hand, if I eliminate them here and now, then... no, it would be the same. Whatever happens, we are done for. If a fight occurs, I'm not sure the 20 Unsullied will be enough to stop these assassins. Even if we win, we couldn't extract enough information from them before reinforcements arrive and prepare an adequate defense,' I thought.

"My queen, we have no choice, let's listen to him, maybe we will manage to escape this situation," said Jorah, although I could see from his enraged look that he was ready to jump on him at the slightest provocation.

I bit my lip and then said:

"What is your plan to get me out of this situation?"

"Don't worry, the king has everything planned. I've prepared a route through which you can easily retreat; all you have to do is flee through the south gate, send messages to your troops to head all towards the south gate and cover your retreat."

"No, we must surrender..."

"To Yunkai? Unfortunately, the king does not allow it. At his request, I informed our allies, the Wise Masters in exile in Volantis, so we have blocked all land and sea routes to prevent you from retreating to Yunkai," he said neutrally.

'This man is mad, how dare he say such a thing in front of me? He attacks me and isn't even afraid that I would have him burned in Drogon's fire,' I thought perplexed, watching him look at me indifferently.

"You are sick," I said, mentally exhausted by this situation.

"I am only following the orders of my king, Princess," he said, bowing.

"Send a message to the Unsullied."

"No, my queen, we..."

"Obey the orders, Ser Jorah, and order the retreat through the south gate," I said as I rose from my throne.
