-Chapter 130-

-14th day of the 9th moon of the year 299 AC-

-POV Garth Flowers-

"No, we cannot help the nobles of Yunkai before we are safe ourselves."

I kept replaying the sentence from Krazdhar Zo Galare, his words were in complete contradiction with my mission, and this was surely what would tip the scales in favor of Grazdan Zo Galare.

My mission consisted of three steps: firstly, to limit Daenerys Targaryen's influence in the Bay of Slaves as much as possible; secondly, to establish our influence as much as possible in the slave cities; and lastly, to open trade routes with everyone.

'If this old slaver dog doesn't want to accept the king's dominion, then so be it, let him die,' I thought, signaling to my men.

I followed my men through the sewers until we reached the place where the secret passages allowed us to enter the Galare family's Pyramid.

I signaled for our men to stop, then I plunged into the secret passage connecting the sewers to the inside of the pyramid.

Along the way, a few guards tried to stop us, but either a crossbow bolt or a blowgun dart lodged in the neck of these unfortunate ones.

I didn't even need to do anything, which allowed me to delve back into the memory of my meeting with Aegon as we advanced.

'How could a kid from the slums like me have today the fate of a man as powerful as Krazdhar Zo Galare?' I thought with a small smile above the sleeping body of the head of the Meereen families.

I took a deep breath before slashing the throat of this old man suffering from morbid obesity.

'Fucking pig,' I said internally with disgust.

-Beginning of the Flashback-

"It's not possible, what the hell are you doing here? I told you to go beg or steal coins in the streets, and now here you are without a penny or a purse," Karl said as he hit my jaw with a devastating punch.

The taste of dirt filled my mouth before I could understand what was happening, while the world around me spun.

Stunned, I looked at Karl in surprise, but as I tried to articulate to explain the reason for my hurried return, a young boy entered the tavern and said, "Hmm so this is where all these scum were hiding."

A second young man entered and said, pointing a crossbow at Karl, "Fucking assholes."

"Wait…" I tried to say.

"Shut up and listen to our leader," said the last young man, also equipped with a crossbow.

"I know you are all dogs biting each other, you are too afraid of the nobles to do what is necessary so you oppress those weaker than you, I find your behavior disgusting," said the youngest of the three boys.

He was about to add something else but reconsidered at the last moment before saying: "Karl Flowers, bastard of Sigmund High, bastard of a knight himself a bastard who could choose his name once knighted, pimping, theft, extortion, and blackmail, these are all the activities you and your little friends have done for the past 6 years."

I felt a sense of warmth and hope arise in my chest imagining that the young boy my age who had caught me trying to steal his purse had come to punish these assholes who exploited us without any remorse.

But that hope was shattered when he said, "From today, you will work for me."

Everyone was stunned by his speech, and then Karl and his friends started to laugh, they screamed with laughter almost insanely, and then Karl said, "HAHAHAHA and I thought you were serious, you fucking kid of a..."

Karl was unable to speak because of the crossbow bolt stuck in his throat, and it was the eldest of the three boys who said, "You really don't understand, either you submit or you die, make your choice."

-POV Grazdan Zo Galare-

I sighed contentedly after finishing playing with the two bed slaves that the Wise of Yunkai had offered me, hoping that as the most powerful man in the Galare family, other than my uncle, I could use my influence to make my uncle Krazdhar favorable to their requests.

'Or be forced to'

Unfortunately, it did not go at all as I had planned: first, I did not manage to convince my uncle to help the Wise of Yunkai, nor was I able to convince my cousin, the Green Grace Galazza Galare.

'And as if all this was not enough, I lost the ear of my cousin Galazza and the trust of my uncle Krazdhar,' I thought, reflecting on the events of recent days.

Staring at the wall, I began to list all my options.

I had to become the head of the Galare family at any cost, especially now since I had revealed my true colors and it was a matter of my survival.

'The future of the Galare family should have been entrusted to me.

If only those two little bastards hadn't been born, then I could have been the head of the most influential family in Meereen.

If those two little bastards hadn't been born, I would have become the king of Meereen, Grazdan the Great they would have called me.

And instead, I am now an outcast within my own family,' I thought bitterly.

I looked at the dagger hanging on my belt on the chair opposite me.

If I really wanted to live properly, if I wanted to live at all, I had to fight.

I got dressed, picked up my dagger, and headed toward my uncle's private quarters, determined to see it through.

'If someone must die, then it is inconceivable that it should be me who passes, I prefer that they all perish rather than…'

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

A scream of horror woke me from my absent state and broke the thread of my thoughts.

I ran towards the scream and saw a whole squad of guards, supposed to ensure our security, on the ground, their throats slit with a dagger or pierced by a crossbow bolt.

'He wouldn't dare,' I thought.

A feeling of hope flooded me as I ran straight ahead as fast as possible, wanting to see with my own eyes if I had been right to bet everything on this king from overseas and his personal assassin.

Once I saw Qezza, his brother, and their mother crying over the body of my uncle Krazdhar, I felt the immense burden on my shoulders evaporate all at once.

I almost laughed but restrained myself and said in an icy tone: "We will find those who perpetrated this abject attack against my beloved uncle, Krazdhar, who was throughout his life the light of the Galare family, guided by our gods."
