Pill Packages

Upon entering the disciplinary hall, Elder Bai was welcomed by a cadre of inner court disciples handpicked by the overseeing Elder, who eyed a succession role for the disciplinary hall.

"Greetings, Elder Bai! How may we assist you?" A male disciple stepped forward, bowing to Elder Bai. This was his first ever visit to the disciplinary hall. He hoped that assisting Elder Bai would earn him favor, especially since he presumed it was on the patriarch's request, two birds one stone.

"I came here looking for a disciple named Tao Shun. I have an errand I need him to run for me," Elder Bai explained.

"I'm sorry, but any disciple sentenced to close cultivation isn't allowed to have any company, not even by Elders unless it's a direct order from the patriarch himself," swallowing his saliva, he braced himself for Elder Bai's potential anger, as he was known for having a short fuse.

"It just so happens that the patriarch did order me to get Tao Shun. Are you going to disobey the patriarch?" The weight of his words hung heavily in the air.

The disciple found himself caught in a dilemma, realizing it was a lose-lose situation. If he let Tao Shun go, even though he suspected Elder Bai was lying, he risked losing his position in the disciplinary hall. On the other hand, refusing Elder Bai's request was basically slapping him in his face, and offending Elder Bai meant death.

Sweat covered his face as nervousness set in; he was going to allow Elder Bai to pass as his life was more important than the position. But another voice interrupted.

"The patriarch hasn't told me anything about giving you an order, Elder Bai. By any chance, are you using the patriarch's name in a lie?"

The inner court disciples turned towards Elder Zi, the head of the disciplinary hall. Inwardly grateful, they thanked him for saving them from a difficult decision and committed to putting in extra effort in the future.

"Leave us be," Elder Zi instructed the inner court disciples. They didn't hesitate and quickly departed, their faces beaming with relief and joy.

"Now, Elder Bai, why are you attempting to speak to Tao Shun? Going so far as to use the patriarch's name," Elder Zi questioned Elder Bai's motives.

"This doesn't concern you, Zi Jian," Elder Bai said with a click of his teeth, not expecting Elder Zi to intervene.

"You walked into my disciplinary hall, pressured some of my disciples, and even asked for one of the disciples in closed cultivation. I would say this concerns me," Elder Zi rebuked.

He never liked Elder Bai because he knew he was a cunning individual. All his actions were driven by personal interests.

Ignoring Elder Zi, Elder Bai left the disciplinary hall with frustration evident on his face.

Elder Zi gazed up at the ceiling of the disciplinary hall, where the sect's crest adorned the space—a jade star with a golden pill at its center. "Things are going to get real noisy soon," he mumbled.

Back at the misson hall, Tang Yun was looking at all the different Information Jade Slip.

Tiger Demons : 25 Points

Sect Cleaning : 3 Points

Alchemy Tutoring : 10 Points

Pill Delivery : 3 Points

Tang Yun wasn't aiming for the mission with the highest points; instead, he sought one that would let him venture beyond the sect's boundaries and explore his newfound world.

Initially, when taking control of Tang Yun's body, his sole objective was to increase his cultivation base quickly, aiming to return home to get vengeance against the Sage Emperor.

Yet, in his brief stay, he decided to place revenge and cultivation last on his to-do list. Having lived for millions of years in the Primordial Realm, most of his days were spent making pills, selling them, or cultivating.

He had explored the entire Primordial Realm, and now he found himself in a new world with secrets waiting to be uncovered.

The more he thought about it, the less he wanted to leave this place. After all, the Sage Emperor wouldn't just get up and die while he was here. He could stay for a million years, and the Sage Emperor would still be alive.

That's why he decided to postpone his cultivation and go to the mission hall to leave the sect for a couple of days or maybe weeks.

He took the Pill Delivery Information Jade Slip, infused it with some of his Qi, and the next moment, information about the mission entered his head.

He needed to deliver ten packages of pills to the Flame Sword Sect, one of the top three sects in the western region.

He brought the Information Slip to the girl at the front desk, who seemed to be in a daze as she stared at him.

"Can you hold on to this for me? I'll be back in a few minutes," he said to the girl at the front desk, intending to ask the patriarch for a spatial ring and some money.

She was so deep in a daze while staring at Tang Yun that he had to wave his hand in front of her face just to knock her out of it.

"E-Ehh… O-Oh, I'm sorry! Y-Yes, I can hold on to it for you!" she said, her face flushed red with embarrassment.

Tang Yun expressed his gratitude and headed to his dorm to retrieve his communication slip, an important tool for contact among disciples and Elders.

But to his surprise, the matriarch was speaking with Wei Bao at the front door, Tang Yun approached and respectfully inquired, "How may I help you, Matriarch?"

The matriarch smiled upon noticing Tang Yun. "I was here looking for you, but your friend here said he didn't know where you were," she explained.

"I was at the mission hall. Shall we go somewhere more private to discuss this?" Tang Yun suggested. She nodded, and they made their way to her private living quarters.

Wei Bao gazed at both of them walking off in the distance with a confused expression, but then his demeanor shifted as realization dawned upon him, "No wonder he was so powerful; he's the matriarch's disciple!" Wei Bao muttered to himself.
