Ability Showcase

Entering the matriarch's living quarters, Tang Yun wasn't surprised to find the place incredibly spacious. It could easily accommodate hundreds of disciples, and provide them with a comfortable environment.

They sat on a large, comfortable white couch in the center of the room, and in front of them was a black cauldron.

"You're probably wondering why I was looking for you," the matriarch said with a beautiful smile on her face.

The matriarch, with her long black silky hair and captivating golden eyes, boasted a flawless hourglass figure. Her presence, accentuated by her alluring curves and large bosom, made it challenging for anyone to maintain eye contact with her face.

Tang Yun suspected the reason she sought him out, but he maintained a thoughtful expression, waiting for her to speak.

"First, let me introduce myself. I am Xue Jingyi, and the patriarch goes by Shi Chin. Very few disciples know our real names, so since we're acquainted, you can call me Jingyi."

"Well then, Jingyi, you can call me Yun."

Now that she introduced herself, Jingyi spoke, "I was looking for you because I wanted to see you use the alchemy flame. I understand if you don't want to, but I also wanted to see your understanding of alchemy since you said you are better than core disciples."

Tang Yun didn't mind; he loved concocting pills. The only problem was that he would concoct pills instantaneously with his techniques. However, in such an underdeveloped world as this, it wouldn't be good for him to show off his full abilities.

Instead, he was going to use a different technique that he made, which isn't as powerful at concocting pills as his main technique.

"What pill should I concoct?" Tang Yun asked as he stood up and positioned himself beside the cauldron.

Jingyi suggested, "How about the Soul Nourishment Pill? It's a novice grade pill but still a good choice for demonstrating your alchemy skills."

Tang Yun also concurred with her choice. The Soul Nourishment Pill replenished the stamina of some individuals. Cultivators typically overlooked this pill, as it didn't significantly affect their stamina. Mortals were the primary users of this pill.

Yet, this pill featured numerous ingredients, posing a challenge for beginners to adeptly manage the cauldron, flame, and ingredients.

Jingyi expressed her gratitude, "For taking up your time, I'll reward you with anything of your choice, as long as it's within my power." She handed Tang Yun the ingredients needed to concoct the Soul Nourishment Pill.

Tang Yun responded playfully, "Then prepare to give me some money and a spatial ring," as he accepted the ingredients for the Soul Nourishment Pill.

Jingyi chuckled and nodded. Tang Yun typically didn't use a cauldron while concocting pills, but since he wasn't using his main technique, he had to.

Tang Yun threw the ingredients into the cauldron and summoned his alchemy flames, engulfing the bottom half of it in his flames.

Jingyi was puzzled as to why Tang Yun threw his ingredients in before allowing the cauldron to heat up, but she didn't say anything and watched.

Tang Yun increased the temperature of the flames, making the cauldron incredibly hot and melting the ingredients instantly.

'First, he threw the ingredients in before allowing the cauldron to heat up and melted them the next moment. Everything he's done shows signs of a complete amateur. Was he lying when he said he was better than our core disciples?' Jingyi squinted her eyes at Tang Yun's beginner's mistake.

Tang Yun skillfully lowered the temperature when all the ingredients melted, surprising Jingyi.

'His control of his flames are incredible, but he's making such beginner like mistakes! What's going on?'

Tang Yun covered the cauldron with its lid. He had already completed the pill concoction, but he was intentionally stalling. Although his flames were still present in the cauldron, he rendered them harmless, a feat achievable only by those with complete mastery over their flame.

After thirty minutes of deliberate stalling, Tang Yun removed the lid and extracted the pill. Jingyi was taken aback, 'He's finished already? It's been thirty minutes, and his flame's temperature was high throughout most of the process. It's definitely going to be a damaged pill.'

A damaged pill typically exhibits a charred appearance with a cracked exterior, often resulting from the burning of ingredients during the process.

As the dissipating smoke revealed the contents of the cauldron, Tang Yun retrieved the pill, leaving Jingyi astonished.

"Impossible!" She exclaimed, her eyes fixed on the pure white pill, akin to the color of Tang Yun's flame.

Not only was the pill not damaged, but it achieved perfect purity—a phenomenon only found in legends.

"This pill is of perfect purity! Not even Shi Chin or I can achieve this! And not only that, you managed to do it within only thirty minutes!"

Although she can concoct novice grade pills in 15-20 minutes, her pills wouldn't even be in the 80% purity range. Yet, Tang Yun achieved a perfect purity in thirty minutes, something that exists only in legends.

Tang Yun was surprised to learn that they couldn't concoct perfect purity pills, realizing he might have overestimated this world.

He decided to treat this world as if it were a newborn child, hoping to avoid any further displays of his superior abilities.

Tang Yun intended to inform her about the additional effects his flame had on the pill, but witnessing her astonishment at its perfect purity, he chose to remain silent.

He didn't want her to die from surprise.

His flame gave the novice-grade Soul Nourishment Pill with a potency ten times greater. Now it's capable of replenishing stamina for cultivators at the Mortal Qi Realm and below.

Additionally, his flame possessed the unique ability to automatically bestow perfect purity on a pill, regardless if the ingredients are burnt or the pill is damaged.

The flames added a final touch purely for aesthetics—it turned all the pills into a pristine white hue, enhancing their visual appeal with a more majestic appearance.

This was the case for every pill he concocted, regardless of the grade of the pill.
