Chapter 15

IT WAS THE FIRST day of school and my first day as a 10th grader.

I wasn't all that excited. Schools are for geeks. In fact, I was looking forward to staying in bed 'til late noon if it weren't for my mother whose voice still rang in my ear as I took a shower.

"Kristtoffer Keller, if you're still in bed the moment I come up there, I'm gonna slap you in the butt it will glow-in-the-dark red." She yelled from downstairs.

So I had no choice. I have to be up and about if I don't want to - she said and I quote - my butt to be glow-in-the-dark red.

It only took me ten minutes to get ready and once I came down for breakfast, Mom was done cooking a plate of scrambled eggs, bacon and some sausages, toasted bread and waffles. Dad was already seated at the table, reading the daily newspaper. A little old fashion, I know. But he prefers it that way even though he knows he can check out the news on the internet.

Mom frowned when she saw me. "Honey, you could've cleaned up a bit."
