Chapter 4 Heart-wrenching Pain_1

There was no need to waste words on those irrelevant people; they had no idea what kind of person Katie Poole really was.

Appearing pitiable didn't mean she was truly pitiable.

It didn't matter if others were deceived, but she couldn't afford to be.

Regrettably, Wyatt Perry had already been blinded by love.

Mrs. Perry wanted to rush up and pull Wyatt back home, but Claudia Ross firmly held her back.

"Mom, don't go, he only has Katie in his heart right now, he won't listen to anything we say, let's go back home and talk about it first!"

Continuing to trouble Katie Poole was tantamount to pushing Wyatt towards her, and her tears had a powerful impact on him.

They couldn't be so foolish as to play into Katie's hands.

Heeding Claudia's words, Mrs. Perry left the café disconsolately and returned home.

As she got into Claudia's car, Mrs. Perry immediately made her stance clear: "Claudia, rest assured, mom will always stand by your side. No matter what tricks Katie pulls, the Perrys' daughter-in-law can only be you."

Claudia looked at Mrs. Perry, who had always cherished her, with a bittersweet feeling in her heart.

If she stepped back now, Mrs. Perry would be fighting alone.

Mrs. Perry had always been in poor health; if Katie Poole caused her any harm, even if Wyatt didn't care, she would.

Her mother had passed away early, and in the years she had been married into the Perrys, Claudia had come to regard Mrs. Perry as her own mother.

In the entire Perry family, the person she was least willing to part with was Mrs. Perry.

Claudia suppressed the emotions churning in her heart and smiled slightly, "Mom, Wyatt is so smart, he will definitely see Katie's true colors. When that time comes, we won't have to lift a finger; he will come back on his own."

"I just hope that day won't be too far off," Mrs. Perry looked at Claudia with guilt, "I didn't expect you to already know, I was planning to drive Katie away soon, not to let her bother you, I'm sorry, Claudia."

Mrs. Perry's words warmed Claudia's heart.

She hugged Mrs. Perry's arm and leaned closer, "Mom, don't say sorry, you've been so good to me, thank you."

After her mother died at the age of seven, Claudia was sent to boarding school by her father, and she rarely went home even during summer and winter breaks.

She had almost forgotten what it felt like to have a home.

Until she turned twenty and married Wyatt.

Although Wyatt rarely came home, she got along well with Mrs. Perry and once again felt the warmth of a family.

...

Wyatt guarded Katie Poole, drying the tears from her face.

Only after she fell asleep did he hurry back to the Perrys'.

He thumped up the stairs, every footstep heavy with anger.

"Bang!" He kicked open the door to the master bedroom, striding in, and then with a "bang," slammed it shut behind him.

This room was the marriage chamber he shared with Claudia.

In three years of marriage, he had never spent the night, or even set foot in it very often.

The lights were on in the room, but Claudia wasn't there.

The bathroom door was ajar, with light streaming from within.

In a fury, Wyatt charged straight into the bathroom without a second thought.

The master bathroom was only about twenty square meters, not very large.

Claudia was still standing under the shower, her skin pallid and her figure curvaceous; amidst the swirling mist, she looked as ethereal as a fairy.

Her long, dark hair, her lustrous eyes, and the pinkness of her buds were particularly eye-catching.
