"Wyatt has been monopolized by you for so many years, it's time you were satisfied," Katie Poole strutted proudly like a peacock in triumph.

"If I'm not worthy, you're even less so. At least I come from a distinguished family, and you... a bastard who doesn't even know her own father, what right do you have to belittle me? Do you think stepping on me will make you any nobler? No matter how grandly you disguise yourself, it cannot change your birth; you're nothing but a cheap woman."

Claudia Ross had learned something about Katie Poole from Wyatt's mother. She wasn't normally a harsh person, but pushed to the edge, she lashed out, cruelly targeting the other woman's insecurities.

What mattered most to Katie Poole was her own background.
