Promise

Red's eyes widened after hearing a familiar voice. He quickly wiped away the tears in his eyes, afraid that Jayce might see it.

As Red looked up, he was greeted by Jayce's soft gaze. Jayce's eyes looked tired and lifeless.

It was so much different compared to yesterday.

Red flashed a smile on his face. It was a forced one. His hold on Jayce's hands tightened as he quickly looked around to call his mother's attention.

"Mom! Jayce is awake now!"

Eniah, who was staring blankly at the wall, was put back into reality after hearing Red's loud shout.

Eniah didn't mind the cold tiled floor, running towards them barefoot.

Her eyes pooled in tears after seeing Jayce. It was as if the thorn in her heart got taken out.

"Mom…" Jayce's hoarse voice entered Eniah's ears.

Eniah hid her cries as she smiled and nodded. She knelt on the ground and held Jayce's other hand softly.
