A mother's instinct

Eve looked at her hand which Sullivan held where the bracelet dangled in the air and she looked back at him before she heard him say;

"Do you still think I don't know what has been going on between you two?"

Eve's gaze softened this time, and she felt the corner of her eye itch. More than that, she felt hurt. She didn't think Sullivan would suspect her that way. 

"I don't know what you are talking about," she said and pulled her hand away from his hold and she tried to maintain composure and not waver.
