Seeing Ivan writhing and rolling on the ground gave me no feeling at all. He was tightly shutting his eyes and screaming out loud.
The thing is, the arrows I had created were nothing new—just altered combinations of already existing elemental cores—and I had not even used any destructive ones at all, just the ones that were not that strong but were annoying no matter how strong you are.
I was able to track down Ivan's subordinate very easily while he was running, and I was able to catch up to him as well. I saw him going towards Ivan, saying some things, and then moving away. After some time, I saw Ivan going into another room.
I sneaked in while he was monologuing, and just at the moment he was sure of victory, I startled him and struck him with my arrow straight to his eyes.
Arrow type: sand— a mixture of earth and wind. It seems like child's play, but only people who have had a fistful of sand thrown in their eyes know how dangerous that is. The pain makes us dig into our eyes to get the sand out, and too much pressure from our fingers causes even more pain.
And when your eye moves, it causes even more pain, basically leading to a cycle of pain until the sand is removed with water.
Suddenly, the other guy came out, and I shot an arrow straight at him, killing him. Might be overkill, but I am a guy who believes in Murphy's Law, so I don't take risks.
Suddenly, the house started shaking. There it is. When I looked outside, I saw three golems holding the same shield Ivan was holding, moving around.
Well, I can say it's not bad. An archer that has a lot of arrows targeting human weaknesses can be eliminated by using a golem that is not alive, and the shield that I took from the screaming Ivan seems to have good physical and magical protection. Your average archer wizard would have a hard time escaping this, forget beating them.
But I am not your average archer. One thing I found out is that most archer wizards are able to conjure only one element or two; the rest is by buying specific arrows.
In that case, I am an outlier. I can conjure almost all the elements, and my limit has still not been reached yet.
I looked at the golems. They seemed to be facing the forest from which I came. Guess they were set in defense before I killed the guy. This would have been tougher.
I notched a lightning arrow and shot at one golem. It stopped working. I must have shorted its magical circuits. Everyone knows that lightning is a common weakness for all golems.
The other two golems quickly turned around. I didn't waste time and quickly shot at both of them.
I missed one.
Damn it. I must train to shoot multiple arrows more accurately.
It shot some kind of lasers at me, but I dodged and shot it again, this time not missing my aim.
And that's a total of three down.
Then I looked behind me and saw Ivan slowly getting up. I shot a blunt arrow at his knee, making him fall down while screaming.
Then I went and closed the door of the room where Cana was kept from the outside and then went back to Ivan.
I knew he would come back again if I let him go, but I could not kill him as he was still Gramps's son. However, I had to make sure he thought twice before doing something like this again.
Ivan's POV
After all the pain in my eyes due to the sand, I finally managed to get up slowly. Suddenly, something hit my knee, making me fall again.
"Brat, I will kill you, you bastard!" I started shouting, and then I heard the door close.
"Ivan."
A cold voice suddenly came into my ears, along with an intense aura.
What the hell is this? I can't even breathe.
This... this kid...
"I am going to say this, so listen closely."
Stop. Stop. Stop.
"You get near me, Cana, or anyone in the guild..."
I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I can't breathe...
"I will hunt you down. I won't let you die. I will make sure that death will be a blessing that you would beg to have."
Suddenly, that heavy aura went away, and I began to take deep breaths.
Then it came again, making it harder for me to breathe. And then—
"I am going to say this, so listen closely."
The warnings began repeating.
Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Again...
How much time had passed? I couldn't remember. The aura came every time, making it harder to breathe, along with the warning. And then, the aura was suddenly gone. Just as I took a breath again—before fully taking it—it came again.
Karna had been doing this for just 30 minutes, but for me, on the receiving end, it felt like an eternity.
And then it suddenly stopped. I tried to take a breath but stopped suddenly. There was no aura this time, but it had imprinted on my instincts that I couldn't take a full breath.
"Remember this and never forget when you wake up again."
The voice shook me again, but this time, I was not able to handle it. Even without his aura, my brain shut down, protecting me from gaining more trauma than I had already suffered.
Karna's POV
Hmm, he fainted. Good riddance, or I might have had to do something worse.
After I shot him with the arrow in the knee, his mental state was highly unstable, making him an easy prey for Conqueror's Haki (magical version). Then, it was a simple technique of destroying his psyche.
Now he will never think about doing anything to the people close to me again.
I then began to go to the room where Cana was kept.
"Miss me?" I asked in a cheeky manner.
"Karna, wait... how are you? What about Ivan?"
"He's taking a break. Let's go," I said and took her out of the ropes that tied her down
