"Ya know, Pany, being Heartless ain't a bad thing when the people love ya." A white haired woman with Rat ears said with a mischievous smirk on her face while sat in the Warden's office. Panila remained as stone faced as ever when she heard her underling speak.
"You say that as if you enjoy being powerless." The Warden sighed when she adjusted the sleeves on her pitch black suit, mainly trying to distract herself as the rat eared woman continued on and on.
"In my name, you should try it at least once."
"Try what?"
"Takin' out your heart, duh?" Rat said as if it was as clear as day, lightly frustrating Panila ever so more. "I only have one good organic heart left, rodent. The sub-mind is to give me a boost and the damaged heart is more of a keepsake."
"And your only good heart is prolly the only thing keeping you alive, blah, blah, fuckin blah. Hells, you demons have weird biology. What's next? You gonna spit tequila out your mouth?" She snickered before leaning close to Panila curiously. "Actually, can you? I'd love a drink."
And with that, and with how often their meetings ended the exact same way, The rodent eared idiot was launched out of the creepy looking office with a whip from some chains. Once left on her own once more, Panila calmly sipped her coffee as she stared down to her city below.
"Weird Biology. Says the uncaring, unaware immortal Rewound Rodent. The day I become heartless is the day I give up coffee."
"Helloooo, you good golden girl?" A young travelling merchant woman called out as she shook the human looking gold statue she had randomly stumbled upon in the desert. "Do you think she pissed off that Midas guy?" A red haired man with floppy dog ears said as he lent next to his partner.
"Dunno. Maybe we just got lucky and found a statue?" The white haired merchant woman said with a giddy tone, seemingly smiling under her plaque mask. The dog gave a light smirk back before turning back to their horse drawn carriage, filled to the brim with random stuff that nearly toppled over by the lightest blow of wind.
"Oi Lamb, we need help." He called out before being met by another masculine voice; "Lamb is out like a light, dude. I think she took our last stash of sleeping pills."
"Shit, is she dead?" The white haired woman called back, before being met by momentary silence.
"Nah, she's just sleeping. Want me to walk her up?"
"I... What kind, YES!"
After a few seconds of mumbling and loud groans of annoyance, two more figures walked out. One of them was a starved looking young man with dark black hair who slowly shambled his way over with the last of their merry troupe, a pale coloured sheep girl with pure white, matted wool covering her eyes.
"This girl isn't dead." The Sheep girl, ironically named Lamb, said with a soft smile as she took down her cloaks hood. "So what's the plan? Melt her for gold and get rich?" The dog eared man, Arlo, said with a light chuckle.
"I suppose we could just... Get her unfrozen and have a snack?" The black haired one, Min, half jokingly suggested as the white haired woman, Ro, took her mask off for a brief moment, coughing as she said; "Doesn't she cough Look like cough him?"
The other three seemed confused at the idea of their new golden friend looked familiar, but Lamb gave a soft smile as she held up an old Shepard's crook. "Maybe he has finally come back to us." She said with an almost excited look on her soft face.
The other three, seemingly on cue, all put their hands out as lamb began inciting an incantation, slowly dragging the crook around the statue and drawing a few sigils around in the desert sand. "Dominus gregis nostri, bring this golden husk back to us!" She yelled, stamping the crook onto the last drawn sigil.
A blinding black and white light shot out from the sigils, crackling with pale red electricity. "It is do-" Before Lamb could give herself a pat on the back, she was pinned to the ground by Lucy. "MIDAS!" She yelled before looking down with a confused look to see a sheep girl instead.
She quickly got off, looking around her now barren landscape that reminded her of home. "Hey, Lady. You okay?" Arlo asked, trying to calm her down. Lucy let out an annoyed huff and shot her hand out forward, as if expecting something to happen.
"What the?" She began trying a few more times to do the same motion, while the four merchants seemed deeply confused. "Are we sure she's him?" Min asked with a confused look, scratching at his neck while they watch Lucy seemingly try to do something. They all began talking amongst themselves casually about what to do, failing to notice that Lucy had gone over to their carriage.
"We could just ask?"
"What if we're wrong?"
"To be fair cough What exactly is our end goal?"
"I shall tell you later, right now we need to-" Lamb was cut off by the sound of Lucy screaming in surprise. The four rushed over to see that the woman had fallen over at the sight of her own reflection. "What's cough wrong?" Ro asked as she put her mask back on.
Lucy slowly got to her feet as her blood started to boil. "What did YOU DO TO ME!?" She screamed in fury, lifting her bangs to reveal two perfectly normal red eyes. "Uh... We saved you from being a statue, girl?" Min said flatly, leaning down to her level.
"Saved me?" She laughed before kicking the mirror and shattering it. "I ONLY HAVE TWO F###### EYES DUMB####! NO ######### ###### ##### MAGIC, NO CLUE WHERE I AM AND I HAVE NO HEART! NO ########## #### ####### ### ####### ####### AND A ###### HEART!"
The four looked stunned as Lucy somehow managed to say every word under the sun. After letting the angry former demon get her fill of rage out, Lamb began to try and figure out what to do to help.
"We're sure we could help if you would like."
"I am sorry. But do you know what this world now has out there? A heart with more untapped potential then the star that orbits your world, now out for the taking. A city filled with artefacts and people that have world shattering capabilities, lost to a golden king and his 6 servants. Oh, and not one, but two currently lost goddesses are currently residing in this world and are possibly the only people I am acutely aware of, who could fix this entire mess.
So saying you will help... Is like eating sand and expecting it to turn to glass. It won't work, it is incredibly stupid, but you are as welcome as any to try!"
The four of them awkwardly stood around, not knowing what to say as Lucy was angrily trying her best to summon even the smallest of chains. "Should we uh... Kill her?" Arlo asked with an awkward smile, only to be hushed by Lamb. "This woman claims to have had seven eyes and summons chains. And if Midas thought of her as enough of a threat to turn her to gold... We must help her and see our dream through!"
As the four continued talking, Lucy realised she had forgotten to try the one ability even her mother was careful of. She began focusing as hard as she could before, spontaneously, a golden piece of parchment paper appeared in front of her. She let out a cackle of celebration, grabbing the paper with an almost childish sense of excitement.
"You said you wish to help me, no?" Lucy said before unfolding the glowing piece of paper in front of the four. "This is my only remaining ability. A contract."
"And uh... Why do you have that as an ability?" Ro asked with a confused smile under her plaque mask. Lucy seemed to swap right back into her old persona instantly, proudly proclaiming; "Be cause I am ####### ######... Wait. ####### ######? ####### ######! I CAN'T I EVEN SAY MY OWN NAME!?" She yelled out once more, her anger once again boiling. Normally it would be a fearful sight to see the ever so powerful woman lose her temper like this, but to the merchants... It was more like watching an angry child.
"Well... Miss. Since you seem like you need a little hand, I'll sign your contract." Lamb said with a soft smile as she stared into Lucy's eyes, seeming to calm her for some reason. The former demon coughed into her hand, readjusting herself to make sure she at least looked professional.
She handed lamb a pen from her pocket and held the contract up to her face. "You understand that with signing this, you will be lending me a total of 20% of your power, you will be at my beck and call at all moments, I will be able to order you around and in the event of your death during the course of the contract, I gain both your body and eternal soul. Are we in agreement?"
"That's some lofty terms and conditions." Ro snickered as Lamb wrote her name down on the paper. In a blinding flash, ethereal chains shot out from the sheep's chest and bound themselves around Lucy, who let out a cackle of excitement once she felt some sort of power again.
"Now then. Do you three care to make a contract as well?" She asked with a devilish grin, leaning up towards them as she held up 3 new rolled up contracts. Though the remaining three declined. "I will be the only one under your control for now, Miss. You see, we want the same thing as you, to get rid of the king and his Heroes." Lamb said with a sift smile.
"If you can get rid of at least one. I'll help you spread illness to the land." Ro said with a quick cough.
"If you can get rid of two, I shall grant you my knowledge and strength for the coming war." Arlo said with an excited bark, revealing his tail had been shaking excitedly.
"And if you beat three? The power to starve entire nations will be at you finger tips." Min said with a growl of his stomach, now slightly hungry.
"And if you can beat the king himself, we will make sure to never leave your side as your owe so loyal commanders." Lamb smiled, bowing lightly.
"You four are not merchants, are you?" Lucy said with a smirk, able to now summon a chain to emphasise her point. "Tell me, my new friends. Who are you."
The four of them got a bit excited, quickly rushing over to their carriage, each one standing next to a horse each as they proudly proclaimed;
"We are the former fears of The End." Ro smirked, raising her mask to the air, only to start coughing her lungs out.
"We are the thing the king feared more then our master!" Arlo said as he raised a broken and rusted sword, though accidentally dropping it onto his tail and clipping it.
"We are the harbingers of the end!" Min said with a sigh, casually raising a breadstick he had been saving in his cloaks pocket.
"We are The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse." Lamb said rather flatly as she pointed her crook towards Lucy with a comforting smile. "And you, Lucy, are our new master..."
"I suppose you shall do for now. Though I usually prefer more subtly. Now then, let us be off, my new servants."
