Hunted by his own kind he now lives in a remote forest, alone with no purpose in life other then dying in peace. 
But soon he will have an encounter that sets him on a path he never could have imagined himself taking.

Trial By Combat

Night quickly came and Dawn was sitting besides the fireplace.

He was reading a book by a candle.

The title of the book was "The 7 heroes of mankind"

It told the story of the 7 generals who fought against the otherworldly beings.

Each being the first of their kind and wielders of special powers that only they could use.

"What a load of bullshit this book is." Said Dawn

He read this book 5 times now and still couldn't belive how stupid and wrong it is.

The book depicts the generals as demi-gods capable of divine miracles.

Dawn knew first hand how powerful they were and last time he checked none of them could resurrect the dead or reattach their heads when it was cut off.

"Well, maybe the resurrect the dead part could be true."

Dawn let out a small laugh as he thought about it.

It has been thirty since the war ended yet the memories were still fresh.

The horrors he saw, the things he did still haunted him.

He closed the book and threw it in the fire.

"It is about time I check on the village so why not buy a new set of books while I am there?" Dawn asked himself.

He then stood up from his chair and blew the candle out.

He walked to his bed and sat on it.

He looked at his axe next to him and reached out to grab it.

It was and old one. The wood the handle was made from had craks on it and the edge was chipped aswell.

He had this axe for almost 5 years now and it served him well.

Whether it was wood or an animals flesh this axe cut through it all and served him well throughout the years.

Nonetheless he still grabbed on to it and went to sleep.

Around midnight a shadow opened the houses door.

They were wearing a hood and a dark cloak.

Reaching to their side the intruder unsheated their sword.

It was a steel sword with a beatiful wooden hand guard. Above the hand guard was the blade and on it were strange symbols that slightly emmited a purple light.

The intruder made its way slowely to the side of the bed.

Crouching down they removed the blanket just enough to see that there was a tree trunk in the bed and the one that was supposed to sleep in it behind them.
