I Don’t Suffer Losses

Hardly had Wendy ended the call, when the door flung open and three men in black suits with intimidating features, entered the ward.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she gaped at them in shock and was about to scream for help but ended up clasping her palm over her mouth from their threatening glare.

Instantly her initial shock turned to unease as their intimidating auras seemed to loom over her and her frail mother.

She instinctively moved closer to her helpless mother on the bed with a protective instinct.

'Where was Bill for goodness sake? He's supposed to be back by now, or has he been restrained by them somewhere seeing they chose the perfect timing to get in?'

When she could no longer bear the torture from their silence, she summoned courage to speak,

"Who are you? What do you want?" She managed to muster, her voice trembling slightly.

The men exchanged glances, their expressions unreadable beneath their stern facades.
