Likened To A Scarecrow

The next day, Grace put a call through to Wendy on their way to the kindergarten.

"Hello, girlfriend. Did you find time to rest last night?"

"Yeah," Wendy responded dryly.

A furrow appeared between Grace's brows. "You don't sound too good this morning, how is Aunt?" Grace asked.

"Still there, but not in any serious state to cause panic for now."

"Why are you sounding so pessimistic?" Grace rebuked. "A miracle can still happen you know," she said.

Wendy nodded where she was, her mind going back to last night. "Yeah, it's possible, it's just that I'm a bit tired."

"That could only mean that you didn't rest well."

"Maybe," Wendy said and suddenly felt she couldn't continue with the conversation anymore.

"Can we talk later, Grace?"

"Alright. Take care of yourself. I'm on my way to the kindergarten. I thought I should check on you before I start the day."

"Thanks, girlfriend," Wendy said and ended the call.
