Delightful Evening

Sol " says Benjamin with an innocent smile on his face in his normal tone which immediately flips something inside Sol's belly.

Sol freezes as she hears Benjamin's voice and she looks up getting her mind back to the senses after waking herself up. Her eyes widen and her posture gets fixed not knowing how to react to that situation. She regains her posture and walks forward unbothered by her messy looks.

Oh p.. hello professor! Why are you he- I mean what's brought you here" questions Sol walking forward towards the dining hall.

Before the professor could say anything, Jane came in between and raised her voice a bit higher.

What a ridiculous inquiry, my dear" said Jane raising her tone and forming knots in her forehead while she handed Sol the tray of grilled chicken.

He is our guest for tonight " said Jane with a cheerful smile on her face when she glanced towards the professor.

Sol then smiled at her professor while her mind was still processing the situation, and her face displayed the moment of dilemma.

"Mother you should have notified me of this, I'd have helped you if I knew" said Sol in a loving way looking at her mom.

"It's not a big deal young lady, I let you rest because you seemed exhausted," said Jane with reassuring eyes patting Sol's shoulders.

Sol then nods while Benjamin can't help but notice the loving relationship between both of them. Benjamin seemed fascinated and after a while, he glanced at Sol who was coming up to the table with a few more of the dishes which were to be served in the delightful evening.

Soon, the table was filled with all the dishes. The delicious smell filled the whole dining hall with soft lights falling on the sight. Sol then placed the final dish on the table and sat next to the professor with her polite gesture. Benjamin and Jane were chatting the whole time about the neighbourhood and Sol's university. The chat seemed full of humorous.

The mellow evening was filled with faint laughter while Sol was thinking deeply about the unusual destiny she detested at the moment. Just yesterday night she was out there kissing the same professor with whom now she paid her respects formally. Sol seemed lost and confused about the situation she currently faced, so she blamed her destiny for the unusual events happening to her.

Benjamin and Jane were occupied by the interesting conversation but Sol seemed quiet and zoned out. Benjamin's eyes softly glanced at Sol, He in fact couldn't forget last night too. The dinner was served. Soon the clinking sounds filled the atmosphere. Three of them seemed to enjoy the meal. The exotic grilled chicken, the pasta with garlic butter and mushrooms and some crusted Brussels sprouts with red wine were flavourful for the exact evening.

So how is Sol at university professor'', asked Jane with her curious eyes like any other parent would while she added some more wine to the professor's glass.

Sol is a sharp student also well-liked because she seems far more sensible than her age. She is a sheep in wolf's clothing." Says the professor gulping the wine served in his casual manner while his eyes sliced Sol's.

Sol smiled at the professor and thanked him for the kind words and the conversation went on for a long time along with dinner. Benjamin was a smooth talker he passed and praised both the woman with good comments. The conversation was jolly and everything until Jane decided to open up about the divorce and how her daughter coped with it. The night grew darker and they concluded the heartfelt conversation where Benjamin got to know a few more things about Sol's past because of which he praised Sol even more. But the atmosphere between them was still complicated because of the last night they shared.
