His eyes fluttered and opened, blinking against the haze, he gradually became aware of his surroundings. The soft glow of sunlight filtered through a window, casting a warm ambiance over the wooden room. As he lifted his hands to rub his eyes, confusion set in – they were notably smaller.
"What's happening? Did I not just... die?" his inner thoughts echoed.
Lying in a cradle, he took in the unfamiliar surroundings, the smell of wood lingering in the air. The room felt both comforting and alien. As he squinted, trying to bring clarity to his vision, the realization dawned – this was not the afterlife he had anticipated.
"Rebirth maybe?" he mused.
Just then, The wooden door of the room creaked open, revealing two figures who stepped into the room. The first, a woman with flowing black hair that cascaded down her shoulders, framed a face of striking beauty. She was wearing a flowing gown of deep azure.
Beside her stood a man, his features weathered yet kind. He wore a simple shirt, the fabric bearing signs of practical use, paired with loose trousers. Their conversation flowed in an unknown language, which he couldn't understand.
As the woman's eyes met his, a gentle smile graced her lips.
His mind raced with questions. Who are they? Why am I here? As he pondered, the woman gently scooped him into her arms, her lips brushing against his forehead with a tender kiss.
She spoke to the man in hushed tones, their unknown language. Her smile held a mixture of affection and reassurance, as if silently conveying that, despite the confusion, he was safe in their care.
[ 1 YEAR LATER ]
I found myself seated on a bed, surrounded by simple wooden toys. The realization struck – I had been reincarnated. Reflecting on the past year, a bittersweet truth settled within me..it felt weird perhaps because I had been to used to the morden day life and also maybe because being a toddler again..while having full consciousness..feels weird but anyway...
maybe... God did listen to me after all, I mused, fingers tracing the contours of the toys. My gaze shifted to the couple, Lily and Robert Williams, who had become my parents in this second chance at life. Strangely, they were about the same age as I was when I took my own life.
Envy welled up within me as I had observed their mundane yet cherished moments, living the dream I once thought was lost. The echo of regrets lingered, a silent reminder of the life I had left behind.
Lily's voice broke through my contemplation, calling out, "Micheal?" My thoughts snapped back to the present, a subtle reminder of the new identity I had embraced.
"Oh... yeah... my name..." I acknowledged inwardly, a hint of nostalgia tugging at the edges of my consciousness. "Micheal Williams..." The amalgamation of a name that felt both foreign and strangely familiar.
Having immersed myself in this world over the past year, I had learned fragments of their language, piecing together a rudimentary understanding. Eldia, the name of the village we called home, had become a cornerstone in this reconstructed life.
As Lily awaited my response, I met Lily's gaze with a genuine smile and a nod. She gracefully gathered me into her arms, cradling me as we strolled around the cozy house. Her tender expression and the gentle sway of her steps painted a scene of warmth and comfort.
As she walked, Lily playfully ruffled my hair, her eyes reflecting affection. This feels nice,I mused, a sense of tranquility settling over me.
Lily's voice, soft and melodious, filled the air as she spoke to me, despite knowing I couldn't reply in their language.
"We're going to the market today, Micheal," she said, her tone warm and reassuring. "You'll get to see all the colorful stalls and maybe even meet some new friends."
I heard this and responded by nodding a few times happily. i thought , This is nice, a new family a new world. A new start.
