As Lily believed I had succumbed to the allure of her storytelling, I feigned slumber, my breaths steady and even. She looked at me, a smile gracing her lips, and planted a gentle kiss on my cheek before leaving the room. The door closed softly behind her, and as soon as the quiet settled, I rose from the bed.
I whispered to myself, "Mission knowledge begins."
Quietly, I descended from the bed and approached a drawer in the room. As I sat on the floor, I pulled it open, revealing a collection of books carefully placed inside. Among them, a general knowledge book caught my eye. It was a thoughtful gift from Lily, intended for future use.
Little did she know that I had learned their language and could read. I opened the book.
After poring over the pages of the book, I pieced together vital information about the world in which i lived in. I resided in the kingdom of Acheron, ruled by King Yutani. Acheron was not the only kingdom in the region.
The Neighboring kingdoms that surrounded Acheron are:
1. The republic of Lofnheim lay to the east.
2. The empire of Ophiuchus dominated the west.
3. The federation of Cassiopeia stretched across the northern lands.
Acheron, despite its militaristic prowess, held a reputation marred by ruthless conquests and barbaric warfare. It stood as a backwater country, overshadowed by its more prestigious neighbors.
As I was about to turn the page to see more things, Lily entered the room and scooped me up, her concern evident in her voice. "Having trouble sleeping?"
Internally. "Mother, I'm about to begin my isekai journey in this world. Let me study. I need to gain knowledge so I can woo all the women and defeat the demon lord!" I chuckled to myself.
However, my jest was short-lived as Lily's attention turned to a more pressing matter. "Oh my... looks like we need to change that, don't we?" she remarked, noticing the soiled diaper.
Embarrassment washed over me, my face flushing crimson despite the passing year. I had yet to grow accustomed to this baby body.
[3 years later]
After three years of dedicated learning, I've come a long way in understanding the world around me. Now, I can form basic sentences and communicate more effectively.
Currently, I find myself in the lawn of our house. My father is showcasing his sword skills, attempting to look impressive, and honestly, it's really cool.
My father, Robert, swung his sword with practiced precision, each motion deliberate and controlled. His shirtless form glistened with sweat as he moved through a series of maneuvers. The blade sliced through the air, leaving a faint whistle in its wake.
Robert looked down at me, a prideful grin on his face. "So, how was it? Your daddy is awesome, right?"
I nodded enthusiastically, affirming, "Yeah, dada's awesome."
Lily, observing our exchange, sighed with a playful exasperation. "There he goes again, trying to impress you."
With a gentle laugh, Lily looked at me, and said. "You know, Michael, your father can't resist showing off his sword skills whenever you're around."
Robert playfully ruffled my hair, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, can you blame me? Gotta keep impressing my little hero here."
As Lily rolled her eyes with a smile.
As a yawn escaped me, Lily looked my way, her gaze tender. "Need a nap?" she inquired, to which I replied with a small shake of my head. "Nope, mommy."
Robert joined the conversation, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "You know, I have a present for you. Do you want it?"
My excitement peaked, and I eagerly responded, "Yes, yes, papa, present!" The prospect of receiving a gift stirred a sense of anticipation within me. In my previous life, presents were a rarity, and the prospect of this surprise from my father sparked genuine enthusiasm.
As Robert got up and returned with a wooden sword in hand, presenting it to me. However, Lily's expression shifted to a hint of disapproval. She looked at Robert and said with a touch of sternness, "Robert, you promised no real weapons until he's older. We agreed on this."
"I know, I know," he said, his voice gentle. "But it's just a wooden sword, Lily. He won't get hurt."
Lily sighed, a blend of exasperation and affection in her expression. "Just be careful, both of you."
Robert turned to me, "Alright, little warrior, ready for some sword training?"
I nodded eagerly.
