CHAPTER 27: GHOST PROTOCOL

CHAPTER 27: Ghost protocol.

"We are a Cursed hunting organization class D"

He couldn't hide the shocked look on his face as he heard Maximus words. But,

On hearing his last 2 words his eyes went dull once more.

"So you guys aren't even that good"

Ryu said,

"You just have lots of money"

He said plainly with his gaze still fixed on Max.

"I'll explain everything" Max said and turned around about to leave. He stopped in his tracks and turned his head over his shoulder to take a look at Ryu.

"Walk with me"

He said as he began to walk forward, Ryu had no choice and followed him from behind as he listened to what he was about to say.

To his deepest surprise despite being underground their headquarters was really spacious with lots of gadgets and few workers.

"3 weeks ago" Maximus finally spoke,

he heard Max voice and his attention shifted back to Max.

"We had a mission and sent some of our agents for the job, but the evidence found were invalid and the suspects caught died because they were placed on a curse"

He said as Ryu listened attentively.

"Curse this is getting interesting"

He said inwardly as he listened.

The topic was starting to peek his interest,

"What..."

Ryu was about to ask a question when he suddenly paused and kept quiet.

"Spontaneous combustion " Max said assive already knowing that Ryu was about to ask him for the name of the curse.

Ryu as a young curse user and also the star student in class D knew that regular people and curse users can be placed on curses, or in better terms a contract. When if violated could be the doom of a person, but no curse user has ever been able to defy that law.

Spontaneous combustion is the type of curse placed on an individual either by marking or tattoos, if violated the curse goes off. The tattoo will immediately fade and the cursed individual shall under go a pain filled death by combustion, meaning death by fire.

The individual will burn experiencing a critical unbearable pain, covered in flames before death.

"And because of the evidence against him were invalid our organisation was de- ranked and placed on protocol-C11"

Max said,

His last words confusing Ryu's as he didn't understand,

"C11" he asked,

"Oh"

Max exclaimed remembering that Ryu was new to the organisation. Maximus turned to face Ryu who still had a serious look on his face.

"We are on Ghost protocol" He said,

But Ryu on the other hand just stared at him assive understanding what he said.

" forgot you were new"

Max said with a smile on his face as he began to explain.

"Ghost protocol is an emergency alert"

He continues,

"You know our organization is not known to the public like Border or Zeo. So if any of our base is ever infiltrated or found out by the press our higher ups initiate Ghost protocol"

Max stopped, Ryu listened attentively and was stunned by the explanation as he struggled to understand.

"Meaning" Ryu asked,

"We don't exist" Maximus said and all the gibberish he has been saying for the past 2 minute, he now finally understood.

"Immediately all our agents are agents were pulled out of duty to live thier normal life and they are constantly monitored by our higher ups to ensure they don't defy"

Maximus said.

"These guys are crazy"

"They used a fancy word like ghost protocol to hide the true reality of what happened"

"They were suspended"

Ryu said inwardly as he stayed silent.

"All our registered agents are being monitored 24/7"

Max said with this expression on his face. (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"But when ghost protocol is over they can return and we might probably throw a party"

Max said said with a sad smile on his face as Ryu's dull gaze was fixed on him.

But he couldn't just shake something off his mind,

Remembering Nachos words,

"And because of the evidence against him"

"Whose him?" Ryu's asked slightly confused,

"Him"

Max repeated his final words understanding what Ryu was talking about.

"No worries we'll talk about that soon"

Max said giving Ryu a reassuring smile which he didn't find reassuring at all.

"Let me introduce you to the gang"

Max said snapping Ryu's out of his thoughts.

"Gang?" Ryu's asked confused,

"You said all your agents are off duty"

"Yes they are" was Max response,

"So you are going to introduce me to all the scientist and workers in the room"

"No you'll get thier names with time but i want to introduce you to those you'll be working with directly"

Max said,

"Communication is key"

Max said as he took a left turn and Ryu followed from behind.
