The Mountains

A few minutes later, the duo could be seen again, still within a forest, but this one was vastly different compared to the previous forest.

As soon as they appeared, David immediately flew into the air while still holding on to Jean. He used his telekinesis to keep her stable before blasting ahead.

"So where are you going now?" Jean asked, noticing his urgency.

"To kill an Elder God," David replied.

His punishment had already been given, so why should he hold back from committing the crime? The two wheezed past trees and buildings at speeds that were almost impossible to see.

The forest was located just below a mountain, and David was heading straight into it. Moving at unseen speeds, David arrived soon enough.

However, as soon as they arrived, David began sensing an immense amount of demonic energy… no, it was beyond that. Demonic energy was dark and murky, but this was as pure as the Phoenix and as dark as the Goblin Force.

It was an impossible structure that shouldn't exist, but it did, and it did so in harmony with the universe. This was Chaos.

"He's already here," David said as he tried flying towards the source of the energy.

However, before he could even move, he felt an extremely hot sensation in his palm and turned, only to see Jean ablaze. It was expected.

Jean was the embodiment of Order, and that energy was literally Chaos. It was her duty, even if she didn't want to, to eliminate all forms of disorder or chaos.

"Calm down," David said as he immediately sent a wave of energy into her body. He wasn't here to watch them fight; he had a purpose he hoped to achieve.

Supposedly obeying him, the Phoenix seemed to calm down as the flames vanished, and he could feel Jean's mind returning to normal.

It was truly a scary thing, having to share your body with a mysterious entity. Thinking about it now, David found those anime/manga protagonists pitiful.

However, there was nothing he could do about it. Jean Grey was the Phoenix, not just a host. She didn't get the Phoenix from anywhere—she was born with it. This was their relationship.

Finally finding a small opening to a cave on the mountain, David landed and immediately began checking on Jean. She was one of the most powerful people in the entire Marvel universe, but she was also number two on the list of the most fragile.

She had died a lot, gotten her heart broken many times, and probably even more, but she wasn't number one—he was here to get her.

"I'm okay, why are you all fussy?" Jean replied as David continued to scan her for any injuries.

"Do you know how hard it is to quell an angry Phoenix?" David asked.

"Huh?" Jean replied, confused.

Looking at her confused face, David immediately sighed. He was angry for nothing. Jean did nothing—it was the Phoenix, and it had retreated.

Any action from him would bring out the Phoenix, and it was too early for Jean to meet her. Without thinking much about it, he began walking into the cave.

The further he walked, the stronger and darker the demonic energy felt. This place was the birthplace of the only being that could willfully say they were on par with the Phoenix in its full glory.

"What are you doing here?" David asked.

"Who are you talking to?" Jean asked, seeing him suddenly stop.
