As they got into the elevator, Way could feel his veins tensing up slowly. He knew it was just a matter of time, but he had run out of options of buying himself time. What worried him the most was that, he had no way of going back home so he was stuck here.
Why is my life so miserable? He thought. He was dragged here each time Aidan was in danger but this time, he wasn't in danger so why was he dragged in? His mind was running wild with unending questions.
His thoughts were suddenly cut short when the elevator rung, they walked out in awkward silence. They walked into the private room and after Aidan had ordered a few delicacies he turned to him.
"Speak," he said.
"I don't know what you want to know, but there is nothing interesting to say," Way replied as he tried to hide his nervousness. He knew Aidan was someone very keen from what he had read about him, he wasn't a fan of his sister's webtoon since it was one of the trashy webtoons there was. But what he was sure was, he knew every tiny detail of Aidan from the pressure his sister gave him into reading and giving feedback of the webtoon, he had played a tiny bit part of the main character Aidan.
Aidan slowly stared deep into his eyes, he was on the verge of losing his patience.
"I can't tell you anything but just know I'm among the people or maybe the only person here who knows everything about you," he finally had the courage to speak up.
"Ooh, really and what would that be? I don't even know myself and what is happening to me lately," Aidan replied sarcastically as if not believing any word he had said.
Way knew what Aidan meant and he understood him everything he had said wasn't too believable.
"Just trust me, I can't and won't harm you that's a promise instead you can refer to me as your guardian angel," he replied acting as convincing as possible.
"Is that so?" Aidan smirked.
"Yeah I saved you, twice as a matter of fact," he said proudly.
"Is that why you asked me if I remembered you?"
"Ooh, that you did? I thought you had forgotten about me," Way said with a smile.
"I vaguely remembered, speaking of that..." He was suddenly interrupted by Way.
"You hate owing people," Way completed his sentence.
"How? How did you know I was going to say that?" Aidan was a bit surprised.
"As I told you earlier, I know you Aidan I know everything about you," he said proudly.
"Kid, stop your fantasies let's get this over with you claim you know everything about me but you don't know my net worth?" Aidan replied with a smirk as he eyed him waiting for his reply.
"First of all I'm not a kid I'm twenty-three years old," Way pouted his lips.
"That's a kid to me, did you just pout your lips kid?" Aidan couldn't help but smile briefly. For some reason, it felt quite right and funny teasing him and as he pouted his lips, Aidan found it extremely cute.
"Did you just smile? If that will make you smile then I'll gladly be a kid," his mood lightened up a bit.
"Do as you please," Aidan replied.
"Do you believe me now?" Way asked. Seeing that Aidan was silent he spoke up again.
"Fine, it seems you don't then I'll just say what I can. Aidan Smith, twenty-eight year old bachelor as of now, CEO and the founder of Beyond group the largest company in the country. Your current net worth is a ten billion dollars, you only trust your secretary who is also your only close friend is that enough for you to trust me?"
Aidan stared at him, it was not that he didn't trust him but he just felt like teasing him. Ever since he met him, he wasn't on guard as he usually was and felt at ease. It was like his instincts and subconscious trusted him in a way.
"Anyone can say that, but let's leave it at that let's say I trust you what next, it doesn't answer my questions," he answered after a couple of minutes.
"I really can't tell you, it won't do you any good knowing,"
"Why? I want to know the truth it's the least thing you can do if you want my trust if not I would take you as a threat. If you know me that well then you should know I don't trust anyone not even my own parents could be trusted so why would I trust someone like you?" His words hit the sore point. Way knew Aidan was someone stubborn who didn't care about words, feelings and emotions only.
"Because I saved your life twice," he replied confidently. Saving someone life wasn't easy let alone twice so he intended to use that as a shield for now.
Aidan reached into his briefcase and then took out his cheque book and a fountain pen. He tore a page and then pushed it to him.
"This is the only thing I can do for you so put in any amount that you want take it as my compensation," he glanced at him.
Way picked up the clear cheque and after staring at it for a few minutes, he placed it down and then said," not even a thank you?"
"Is that what you want?" Aidan raised his eyebrows slightly.
"No,"
"Then what do you want?" He couldn't help but ask.
"If I tell you will you give it to me?" Way replied.
"It depends, ask I'll see if it's in my reach or not,"
"It's in your reach so don't worry, I won't ask for something that isn't within your reach but promise me first," he replied.
"I don't give promises to things I don't know about,"
Aaah, jeez why is he so stubborn and tough headed, I guess I'll use my next trick. He thought for a while before speaking.
"It's the least thing you could do, do you know what lengths I went through just to save you? It's just a simple promise why can't you grant it for me?"
"Fine, I promise," Aidan finally accepted.
"Good, no turning back," Way smiled slightly.
"What do you want?" Aidan asked again.
