Chapter 18 Love problem

Aidan picked up his cup and then walked to the window. His building was among the tallest in the country and his office was at the top most floor so he could easily see the whole city from his window.

He sipped his coffee as he stared out. He had not been relaxed and happy for a while. He had been battling his sleep problem having used a lot of sleeping pills but that night, he slept peacefully and even overslept.

"Is he my cure?" He mumbled. He had been in and out of hospitals but what he was told by the doctors was that he had a psychology problem. He had no idea when it started but what he knew was that he couldn't sleep more than two hours a night and when he did, he had to take a strong dose of sleeping pills.

After drinking his coffee, he walked back to his seat and then called his assistant.

"Prepare the car I'm going out," he said as soon as Mark had walked in.

"Yes chairman." Mark replied before walking out. He couldn't question but it felt weird since Aidan had no plans for the day apart from his dinner meeting.

Aidan picked up his suit jacket and then walked out heading to the entrance door. Immediately he arrived, he found Mark already there waiting.

"To the mall," he said after settling himself in the back seat.

"Yes chairman," he didn't expect Aidan would want to go to the mall especially on a work day. He stole a glance from the rear view mirror and couldn't help but think about his sudden change. He didn't know if his sudden change was in a good way or a bad way but what he knew was that he liked the new Aidan.

In the hospital,

"Why are you so quiet today? What are you thinking about?" Layla turned to Way.

"Why? Does it bother you?" Way smirked.

"Yeah, actually it does I'm not used to your silence now speak, what is wrong?"

"Nothing, I'm just wondering," he replied casually.

"Why and what is making you wonder?"

"Nothing," Way said.

"Aaah, quit it already just speak up, I know you Wayne we have been friends for years so I can easily tell something is on your mind," Layla was finally running out of patience with him.

"Wayne? Since when do you use my full name?" He raised his eyebrows.

"That's the only way to make you speak now, open up what is it?" Layla eyed him. Way was the kind of person who loved bugging and annoying her whenever he had the chance to. So his silence felt weird and awkward. His silence was normal when it came to others since he was an introvert but not in front of her.

"I'm just not myself lately," he finally opened up.

"Why? What's bothering you, what's on your mind?" She asked as she stared at him keenly.

"Must I do this? It's embarrassing," Way said.

"Who cares I've seen the worst side of you,"

"Good point," he finally gave in.

"Love problem?" Layla suddenly spoke up.

"How did you know? No, I mean what are you talking about? Love problem that has to be the biggest joke," Way spoke in a high pitch.

"I'm right your face says it all, you can't lie to me Way,"

"Tch! No that's not it," Way denied it bluntly.

You can't deny it, it's clearly written all over your face, it's so obvious Way. Plus when you lie you speak in a high pitch and act all touchy and awkward," Layla glanced at him.

"No, I'm not touchy," Way spoke in a high pitch his hand on Layla's wrist. Layla lowered her head and then stared at Way's hand trying to signal him. Immediately Way realized, he removed his hand and then cleared his throat embarrassingly. Each time he tried lying, his body and actions said the opposite he knew it but he preferred denying his actions.

"So? What's up virgin boy, who is on your mind?" Layla asked.

"Tch! Who are you calling a virgin boy I'm not a virgin,"

"What's with you? We use that phrase to refer to someone who has never been in love or any relationship someone like you," she explained.

"What do you mean someone like me? Who said I've never been in any relationship?" He raised his voice slightly.

"Do you want me to go through that again? You can't lie, you don't know how to lie and we have been friends since middle school," Layla couldn't help but want to facepalm herself.

"Okay now spill it I'm all ears,"

"It's nothing, don't sweat yourself out," he replied.

"Ooh, really maybe Wave will..." She asked and waited for his reaction.

"No, stop she will make fun of me, having you make fun of me is enough already I don't need one more person. Anyway, can you recommend any girls? Like a blind date or something,"

"Ooh, are you sure?"

"Yeah, a hundred and one percent sure," he said.

"Why do you want to go on a blind date all of a sudden?" Layla asked.

"Can't I?"

Layla recalled bugging him to go on a blind date when they were in campus. Most of the girls had a crush on him but he wasn't interested in dating and kept denying so it came as a shock when he suddenly wanted to go on one. After denying for a while, Layla ended up concluding that Way was probably gay and not into girls. She eyed him for a while trying to buy his story.

"No,that's not what I mean," she continued still eyeing him curiously.

"What do you mean then?"

"I've always introduced you to girls but you were never interested in any of them that's why it all came as a shock to me,"

"They weren't my type, just do it," he concluded.

"Fine, I'm sorry Mr. not my type," she mocked him strucking her tongue out.

"I'll set a time tomorrow for you to meet her, I have one of my college friends who has been eyeing you for a while,"

"Do that," he replied as he walked away.
