Chapter 17 My cure

"President, you called?" Aidan's assistant walked into the room hurriedly. Aidan's mood wasn't too pleasing since Way had once again disappeared abruptly. But that confirmed one thing, Way had a lot of secrets that he had to be uncovered one way or another. He knew it wouldn't be an easy job whatsoever.

Aidan was silent for a while before turning to his assistant. He was emmiting a strong and cold air in the room that scared his assistant.

"Find information about him, anything and everything from his background, I want to know every tiny detail," he said coldly. He didn't wait for Aidan to tell him who the 'him' he refered to was.His assistant was quite surprised by the request this was the first time Aidan had requested something like this. He never did background checks on anyone and incase he wanted it, it wasn't thorough unlike today.

He looked around the room but he didn't spot anyone, he was very sure this was the place they had gone to and Aidan wasn't alone but he couldn't question or ask the President. After a while, he replied.

"Yes, president should I drive you home?"

"No, get to work I want the results tomorrow morning," Aidan replied.

His assistant stared at his wrist watch it was around 6pm. He couldn't help but sigh heavily as that meant he had to work overnight once more.

Aidan picked up his glass of wine and waved his hand without looking at him. Seeing that, his assistant bowed his head slightly before walking away.

He twirled his drink for a while staring at nothing in particular and after a few minutes, he gulped it all down before stomping out. Aidan walked into his office a little past seven in the evening everyone had clocked out for the day. He walked into his exclusive elevator that directly stopped in front of his office. He immediately spotted the pile of documents on his table as soon as he walked into his office.

This was his life, he was widely known as a workaholic. As soon as he had occupied his seat, his work mode was fully switched on.

By the time he was done, it was almost two in the morning. He keenly placed all the documents together and then walked into his office bedroom which had a mini kitchen and a bedroom fitted with a bathroom and a mini closet in it. It wasn't as big as his mansion but still very classy and extremely spotless.

He laid down in his bed after showering and immediately thought about what had happened that day. For the first time in his life, Aidan felt at peace he didn't have his usual nightmares and insomnia that usually bugged him.

The next morning,

Mark, his assistant walked into his office it was unusually quite and weird. He looked around the office but Aidan was nowhere to be seen. He immediately stared at his wrist watch, it was almost nine in the morning. Aidan was a morning person he was always up by four and by six, he was done with his morning routine which included, working out or a morning run. But today, it was the total opposite.

"Where is he? It's almost time for the meeting," he couldn't help but mumble at himself. Aidan had texted him the previous night stating that he would sleep in the office so he didn't bother to pick him up and check up on him.

"Is he still sleeping?" He couldn't help but think but immediately shook that thought. Sleeping in was something unknown to him and everyone in the company. After a while, he couldn't help but just confirm. He walked into the bedroom and suddenly rushed inside. He picked up a pillow and then began hitting the body on the bed.

"Who are you? How dare you walk into the chairman's office mmmh?" Mark couldn't believe someone in this world dared to lie down on Aidan's bed.

Aidan was in a deep sleep when he suddenly heard a sharp pain on his back, someone was hitting him uncontrollably. He tried yelling but that didn't work as he had fully covered himself leaving no room for sight.

"You won't wake up right? I'll go get a stick," Mark yelled. He turned around and then picked up a chair raising it towards the bed but what he met shocked him terribly. He took a step back in silence.

"Chairman? Was that you?" He was dumfounded.

"Or else? This is my office, my room of course it's me, ouch you broke my spine," Aidan held his back in pain.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry please forgive me, I thought it was someone else," he knelt on the floor his face embarrassingly down. He felt extremely embarrassed and foolish. It was at that point that he remembered Aidan's office was installed with a top notch security system that no one could enter. His company itself dealt with advanced technology and robotics which meant that no one could break in easily.

"You can do anything to me, I deserve it," he spoke as he facepalmed himself.

"I thought someone had broken in since you had never overslept," he tried to explain himself.

"What's the time?" Aidan asked.

"It's almost nine chairman,"

"Cancel my morning meetings today," Aidan immediately said.

"Yes, chairman,"

"Leave," Aidan yelled.

Mark bowed slightly before walking away still embarrassed.

Aidan walked towards the bathroom and after he had finished showering and dressing up, he settled down in his office chair.

"Your coffee chairman," Mark walked in with a cup of coffee and snacks and then placed them in front of Aidan.

"Anything else?" He asked.

"The information I asked you to find is it done yet?" Aidan asked.

"Not yet but I will have everything ready by noon," he replied.

"Fine, you may leave," Aidan said softly.

"Chairman, you look great today you seem relaxed and in a happy mood," Mark commented before walking away.

Aidan picked up his cup and then walked to the window. His building was among the tallest in the country and his office was at the top most floor so he could easily see the whole city from his window.

He sipped his coffee as he stared out. He had not been relaxed and happy for a while. He had been battling his sleep problem having used a lot of sleeping pills but that night, he slept peacefully and even overslept.

"Is he my cure?" He mumbled. He had been in and out of hospitals but what he was told by the doctors was that he had a psychology problem. He had no idea when it started but what he knew was that he couldn't sleep more than two hours a night and when he did, he had to take a strong dose of sleeping pills.

After drinking his coffee, he walked back to his seat and then called his assistant.

"Prepare the car I'm going out," he said as soon as Mark had walked in.

"Yes chairman." Mark replied before walking out. He couldn't question but it felt weird since Aidan had no plans for the day apart from his dinner meeting.
