Vlad's party slowly descended in front of the Dark Forest, which, besides the dark red, purple, and black-colored plants and trees, resembled a lush rainforest.

The thing is, because of the dark colors, most people could never really appreciate its beauty, except those with Dark Vision inherent to them, giving them the power to see through darkness.

"I can barely see anything here; the moonlight doesn't even get through the canopy…" muttered Emerlinda, looking around while squinting her eyes. "Aah! I-I'm going to get lost like this…"

"Can't you use your Spirits to lighten the place for you?" Chris wondered.

"I could, but that would waste my Spirit Energy…" said Emerlinda. "Ah! Right, I've got a torch here; maybe a lamp could do? I bought some when I was exploring a Cave Dungeon…"

"Hah, forget it," Chris sighed, waving his hand and generating a sphere of light that illuminated quite a lot of their surroundings. "It'll move with us, so don't worry."

"B-But won't that cost a lot of Arcana?!" asked Emerlinda.

"What? Nah, this barely cost a thousand, and it remains for like a whole day," shrugged Chris.

"Huh? Magic isn't that… easy usually," Emerlinda muttered. "Well, thanks a lot anyways, Chris."

"Don't mind it," the incubus shrugged.

"This is where Dark Spirits Monsters spawn," said Vlad, admiring the rainforest, which was awfully quiet. "I guess we should just get inside and look around. Worst-case scenario, we get lost and just fly to the skies to regain orientation."

"Sure, I suppose that's the go-to plan," nodded Chris. "Emerlinda, let's go."

"A-Ah, yes!" Emerlinda nodded, rushing by their side.

The group instantly entered the Dark Forest; Camilla remained in the middle as the one they had to protect the most, while Vlad was at the front, Emerlinda behind, and Chris above.

With Emerlinda behind, they make sure she doesn't get lost because she's always seeing the whole group—a simple strategy.

[Special Effect: Today is Red Moon; {Frenzied Dark Spirits: Tier 5} will spawn more, while {Silent Dark Spirits: Tier 4} will remain stagnant and easier to spot.]

"Oh, so there's even some sort of Special Effect because the Red Moon's up?" wondered Chris. "That's neat! Okay, let's begin searching!"

The group was very loud, and as they moved through the dark rainforest, eventually, creatures emerged, attracted to the light Chris created like moths to a fire.

The bushes moved, the trees trembled, and dark red claws began emerging from the shadows, slowly scratching the wood of the trees, as a furious and loud scream reverberated.

"GRYYAAAAAH!"

As the monster approached, Emerlinda jumped off the ground in surprise. The darkness, the atmosphere, and the creepy horror movie monsters really made this a terrifying place!

"Something's coming from the right!" said Vlad, using his expanded Senses through his Soul Aura to quickly detect a large figure approaching amidst the darkness.

It was so dark that it easily camouflaged with the darkness of the Silent Rainforest, but once it screamed, it immediately gave itself away.

RUMBLE!

The creature made the ground tremble as it leaped towards them, descending; it resembled a mass of fuzzy dark red clouds, or perhaps shadows, with large arms and long legs, long claws resembling blades constantly covered with blood, and the head of a black wolf with several red eyes and tentacles.

[You have been discovered by a [Frenzied Dark Spirit (Tier 5)]!]

"These things are Tier 5?!"

As Chris complained, Vlad moved forward, swinging his sword at the same time as he infused it with a Holy Spell.

Using Geomancy, he merged the Spell directly into the sword, temporarily turning the sword into a holy weapon.

"{Geomancy}: {Holy Light Blade}"

SLAAASH!

The slashing attack sliced right through the Dark Spirit, as it groaned in agony, falling to the ground while squirming in pain. The wound was deep, and there were patches of holy light consuming its body as well.

And there was also blood—black, gooey blood—but blood, nonetheless.

"Good, they bleed," nodded Vlad. "Looks like we'll be feasting tonight."

"Hey wait! Don't kill it yet! I want to turn him into my Spirit!" said Chris.

"Yeah, but I don't think it's weakened enough; stand behind," said Vlad.

"GRUOOOHHH!"

The Frenzied Dark Spirit roared furiously, quickly standing up again, its sharp claws overflowing with dark red energies.

FLASH!

And then it rushed forward, resembling a blur of black and dark red colors; its giant claws moved down, attacking not Vlad but Chris behind him.

"Uwaah!"

Chris barely noticed in time, quickly flying into the skies and pointing his trident at the creature, infusing it with lightning, and firing it towards the monster from above.

CRAAASH!

"GRYAACK?!"

The creature reacted loudly, vomiting more blood as the electrified weapon pierced its body; the darkness and black clouds that made its body were rapidly disappearing the more it bled.

"S-So that's a Dark Spirit…" said Emerlinda. "Beings like these are not even a thing in Fantasia, but to think they're a common monster in here! It's really unique…"

"I'll contain it, brother!" While Emerlinda was doing nothing, Camilla quickly waved her hand down, and an invisible energy pushed the Frenzied Dark Spirit down.

"GRRHHHH…!"

However, as a response, its red eyes shone brightly, and dark energies surging from its body, clashing against Camilla's psychic powers and blowing them away.

BOOOM!

"Agh!"

Camilla was pushed several meters away, and Vlad grew furious, quickly summoning his Soul Aura and fusing it with his Sword.

"{Geomancy}: {Holy Sword Soul Aura}!"

His Aura flickered as his sword temporarily disappeared, fusing with his soul to unleash a barrage of dozens of swords made of holy light and his soul, piercing through the Dark Spirit and tearing its body to shreds.

CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!

"UUGGRYAAAAAAAGGHH!"

As it agonized, it quickly dropped to the floor, bleeding more; it was barely alive, but in a few seconds it would die.

"Chris! Now! Use whatever power you have to make a contract with this thing before it dies! It seems strong!" said Vlad.

"G-Gotcha!" Chris nodded, rushing towards the Frenzied Dark Spirit and touching it.

FLUOSH!

"Ugh?! Uaaagh!"

However, Chris panicked as the moment he touched the thing, darkness engulfed his hand and began to quickly spread through his body.

"Is it parasitic?!"

Vlad panicked, about to kill the monster with his Aura.

However, Chris eyes began glowing red out of nowhere as the entire Frenzied Dark Spirit disappeared, wrapping his entire body.

"CHRIS?!"

"Heh… HAHAHAHAA!"

Chris laughed maniacally, manifesting gigantic dark red claws from his hands as his entire body was wrapped in the darkness, fusing with his clothes to create a sexy black leotard with fishnet stockings and black heels.

"KILL! KILL! KILL!"

Chris began roaring wildly, becoming crazier by the second, his eyes spiraling and glowing brightly.

"Are you kidding me?! Chris!"

Paul quickly learned in that moment that this wasn't as good of an idea as he thought.
