Chapter 150: A New Little Friend 2

-----

Once Vlad created the Bone Golem, it immediately started moving.

"Yipeee!"

It let out cute sounds, beginning to jump around, dancing, running, and moving its little hands.

"W-Woah! It's alive!" Ermelinda said. "Hahah! So cuteeee!"

"Wait, what? It worked? Is this like the golem hands you made or something different?" Chris said.

"No, this is a permanent being," said Paul, smiling. "I've created a servant! A small one that might not be good for everything, the first of many. Unlike the golems I can create through geomancy, which fall apart, it seems that if I use my own bones with the power of this Bone Ability, the beings are permanent. My Soul Aura also is working well with that, as it infuses a "fake soul" inside, a piece of my aura."

"Wouldn't you be weakening yourself like that?" Gofumina wondered.

"Not at all, I didn't infuse my own soul into it; that's why it's a "fake soul" made out of the energy of my soul that exudes from my body, which replenishes over time!" Vlad smiled with fascination. "Hahaha! This has more potential than I imagined! It's alive! It's truly alive!"

He grabbed the little doll, which danced on his hands, moving its hips coquettishly and then raising its little hands around, letting out cute sounds.

"Woohooo! Yipeee! Waaahaaah!"

As the doll danced, Paul quickly walked towards Chris, offering the doll to him.

"Here, Chris! I wanted to give you my first Bone Golem; I think it should be able to grow bigger if you feed him bones or other magic materials like crystals and monster cores," explained Vlad.

"E-Eeh? You're giving me the creepy lil' guy?" Chris looked a bit annoyed.

"Y-You don't want it?" Vlad made a worried expression. "Ah, well, then I'll give it to you, Ermelinda! It seems you wanted it, right? Here."

"Oh my gosh, thank you, Vlad!" Ermelinda was about to grab the doll with her little hands and…

"W-Wait a second!"

Chris stole the doll from Vlad's hands, holding him rather uncomfortably with his hands tightly pressed against the doll's neck.

"I never said I didn't want it! It's mine! I'll take care of the little brat."

"Gaaack…! Geeehh…!"

The doll was letting out strange, painful groans as Chris held him tightly.

"O-okay, I get it, but can you be gentler with the lil guy?" Vlad asked.

"Hmph… Okay, aren't you quite delicate?" Chris wondered. "Here, you can have these. Can you eat? These are demonic spirit grapes that my spirit produces. They taste nasty to me, but you could eat them."

Chris offered purple and red-colored grapes to the doll, who started absorbing them one after another. These grapes were the byproduct of a spirit, so they were ethereal products, easily absorbed by animated and undead-type beings.

The "Animated" Family of creatures were like Cursed Dolls, Living Puppets, Walking Chairs, and other inanimate objects given life.

Meanwhile, "Undead" were directly unliving beings that were made to walk the earth again, Skeletons, Zombies, and the like.

Paul assumed Bone Golems were like something in between the two, made of inanimate bones and with a fake soul inside.

They obviously can't eat normal food, but compatible materials or ethereal, spiritual food like this seemed to work!

"I'm glad you like him," Paul smiled with a nod.

"Yum, yum! Yummyyyy!"

The Bone Doll made a cute noise and hugged Chris's hand happily after being fed; it had forgiven him very quickly despite having almost been killed a second ago.

"Huh? This thing sure gets attached quickly; it reminds me of that dragon outside," Chris sighed. "Ah right, we should go see him later, no? Or he might start throwing a tantrum."

"Right…" Nodded Paul.

Ding!

[You have forged a Familiar Pact with the Animated Being: [Bone Golem: Number One (Tier 0: Rank 0)]!]

[The Animated Being: [Bone Golem: Number One (Tier 0: Rank 0)] will now protect you and fight at your side!]

[To help Number One develop, you must feed him bones and other magical items such as magic crystals and spirit stones.]

[Spiritual Food will also work and might make him very happy! However, overdose could cause Soul Sickness.]

[Once your Familiar reaches Rank 10, it will evolve into the next Tier and become stronger.]

"E-Eh?!" Chris was surprised by the notifications he got; suddenly he had made a bond with this creature! "Did my Spirit Heart…? No, this isn't a spirit, though? Is there an upper limit to the number of Familiars I can have? I thought I only had a limit of one with Argentia…"

"What? What happened?" Paul asked.

"Ah… well…" Chris explained to his boyfriend what he just saw.

"Wow, really?! I didn't get any notification like that, though… Maybe I can't make my own creations my familiars? That's a weird condition…" Sighed Paul. "But I'm glad it worked out for you then, Chris! Perhaps it has to do with you having a taming class."

"Yeah, but I need to use the Moonshine Contract or whatever it's called… but I didn't use it with this thing!" Chris said.

"Perhaps the contract is for a special type of familiar that gets many benefits; didn't Argentia get a powerful new form and everything?" Paul asked. "I suppose you can also create "normal familiars" but that won't enjoy his benefits."

"Hmmm, right…" Chris nodded. "I'll have to discover the limit later, I guess, but this sounds kind of cool. But the name is way too lame! Number One?! Did you name him that? You seriously have terrible naming sense!"

"O-Oh, I just gave it such a name in my mind when it was made…" Paul said. "It's weird… Can you rename him?"

"I'll try… Okay, Number One, your new name from now on is… Ezekiel!" Chris nodded.

"Yipeeee!"

The little Bone Doll jumped around happily, gaining a golden glow on its body.

FLASH!

Suddenly, a new name was imprinted into the Bone Golem's Fake Soul, and once the light dissipated, there was a small triangle-shaped golden mark on the doll's forehead.

"A mark?" Chris wondered.

Ding!

[Your Familiar: [Bone Golem: Number One (Tier 0: Rank 0)] has received a new name from you: [Ezekiel]!]

[Ezekiel] has been baptized by your Holy Light, becoming a [Holy Bone Golem: Ezekiel (Tier 0: Rank 0)]!]

[Ezekiel] has gained the new Skill: [Little Light (F)]!]

[This is a new form and not an evolution.]

"No way, he got a bit stronger?! Pretty cool I can do that, hahaha!"

Chris felt awesome in that moment, as Paul nodded, checking his other skills while leaving his boyfriend to his own devices.

"Alright, this has been pretty interesting so far; now let's see the other Skill and the secondary growth ability I possess come from it too. I think it developed a little; I've absorbed some of that spiritual energy after all."

And that Skill was [Spiritual Blood Ki Harvest].
