Wilhelm entered the house with a soup of happiness and anxiety on his mind. There was something that he needed to get off his chest, but he was unsure whether he should share it with his mother then or after dinner. Inger was in the kitchen with the maids, and was busy preparing the evening meal. and in the living room, Nathaniel was sitting at the table staring at his notebook, moving from one dot to another, trying to connect the dots. "Hey Nathaniel, what's up?" Wilhelm addressed Nathaniel already having an idea what was wrong. Nathaniel looked up at Wilhelm immediately with a frown. "I don't know, I can't connect the dots, it's impossible." Wilhelm had a slight smile for Nathaniel. "Why don't you let me help or I can ask Mom, if she is busy, to help you." Then maybe she can get involved. It was usually after Inger was done with dinner preparations. Nathaniel stated, "I don't want mom to be interrupted. She is very busy." Wilhelm shook his head, not responding. "I understand. So why not let me help you, if that is the case, should we start with our options, specifically let's connect points 1 through 3," he offered, grabbing his pencil. "Ms. Intertwine the dots." He gave simple directions and connected every dot for them to begin connecting at the beginning of the drawing. "Then you are going to trace from dot three to four and five, in a straight line. Keep connecting the dots and it will create the picture. They completed the dot-to-dot activity and Nathaniel's face beamed with excitement. "Wow, it came out awesome! Can we color it?" Wilhelm said, "Absolutely, it's your drawing! Let's color the picture together. Let's get the crayons and color our creation Derek." Just then, Inger was yelling to the boys saying dinner was ready, "Wilhelm and Nathaniel, come to the dining room for dinner before it gets cold!" Then the mother said, "Wilhelm and Nathaniel need to wash their very dirty hands before dinner." Both boys washed their hands and took their places at the table. They sat down and ate another delicious dinner with their mother. They conversed again and had a wonderful meal together. Wilhelm felt thankful for his family, he noted the closeness, love, and respect they shared with each other. Wilhelm felt confident and ready to handle whatever conflict came their way together, side by side.
