What Was It About?

"It's a fifty-fifty chance, and I can't be sure I'll make it through, sweetheart," Mr. Hernandez said, his voice laced with resignation.

"I have to act fast, make arrangements, before it's too late." His words trailed off as he looked at Darren, hoping for some response, some acknowledgement, but his son simply turned and walked away.

The sound of Darren's footsteps echoed through the room.

Darren slumped into his chair, his mind reeling from the bombshell his father had just dropped. The words echoed in his thoughts like a cruel mantra:

"Fifty percent chance... Get a woman and get married as soon as possible..." The harsh reality hit him like a ton of bricks - he could lose his father at any moment.

The thought was unbearable, and Darren felt like he was drowning in a sea of uncertainty.

He had never contemplated the possibility of losing someone he loved, and the weight of that realization crushed him.
