The door slammed shut behind them, and Madelyn twisted the key in the lock, her heart pounding in her chest.

She leaned against the door, her eyes fixed on the nurse, who was staring at her with a mix of shock and fear. 'I didn't mean to...' Madelyn panted, her grip on the key still tight, her mind reeling with the realization of what she had just done.

"Now listen,' Madelyn began, her voice laced with frustration and exhaustion, as she finally released the pent-up breath she had been holding.

Her chest heaved with the effort, her eyes blazing with a mix of determination and desperation. She fumbled for her ID tag, her hands shaking slightly as she pulled it out and thrust it towards the nurse.

'This is my tag, and I'm a doctor here!' she declared, her words firm but laced with a hint of pleading. 'I'm not some intruder, I'm one of you."
