Kanaru glared at the queen as well. When the cage showed up, the queen moved her hand to put Kanaru inside. However, the moment her grip loosened in the slightest, Kanaru hardened his feathers into metal sheets. He furiously spun, shredding the queen's hand. The light flashed and weakened the flesh, making the hand explode. A shrill scream came from the queen who grabbed her severed wrist.

The bird prince used his metal wing to dash away from the sirens. Since he was underwater, he could use the metal feathers like a huge paddle to propel himself to the exit. Even if he was easy to spot because of light, at least he could contend with their swimming speed.

He just didn't realize something was waiting by the entrance.
