Pity

"You're not welcome here, Maddison Walker," Kathy Anderson said coldly.

The middle-aged woman looked as if she had aged another ten years since Maddison last saw her. Maddison had come to meet her at the hospital where Pierce Anderson was staying in. Though the family had lost their business, they still had their personal wealth to fall back upon.

But money burns quickly when you're spending it like the rich.

"I'm not here to rub it in your wounds, Kathy. I'm here to give you this," Maddison said as she handed her a manila envelope.

Kathy brushed away the envelope, causing it to fall to the ground.

"I don't need your pity! The Andersons don't need your pity!" Kathy yelled at her, catching the attention of nearby onlookers.
