Promises

"Maddy, you didn't ruin anything," Keith rebutted.

"Yes I did. What she did was cruel but I should have considered you too," Maddison sighed.

It was something she only thought about after everything was said and done.

"Maddy, she killed your mother. Your mother was the love of my life," Keith confessed, "She's the only woman I ever loved."

"What about Margaret? What about Cassidy?"

Keith let out a sigh as he leaned back against the pillow. He thought back to the many moments he'd shared with Margaret over the years. They had good moments together. But not all of it was perfect.

"Margaret…, she helped me through a tough time. I was such a mess after your mother died. Cassidy is my daughter. No matter what happens, she is still my daughter," He turned to Maddison and continued, "Just as you are."

Maddison held on to her father's hand tightly.

"I'm sorry for saying the horrible things that I did," She apologized.
