Chapter 6: The Duke's Family

I rested for a day and got up early to meet the duke; As I entered the duke's office, I could not see him, only stacks of papers were visible, behind those stacks I found a sleeping Duke and an overworked, sleep-deprived Sebastian standing close beside him. As per Sebastian, since the appearance of that mysterious being there have been many others popping up and hence, it's the duke's responsibility to exterminate them. I told Sebastian to take a break and he fled as quick as a cat. I tried to wake my uncle by shaking him but to no avail, he was sleeping like a baby. So, I went to gather intel on my own.

I stopped by the library to answer my questions, there I saw Suki chatting with two other people a girl and a boy of about our age group. I stepped up to them, and instantly the girl went behind the boy's back as though afraid of me. I stepped up to Suki and asked her to come with me to the gardens outside, I needed to speak to her privately. As we reached the gardens, I began our conversation.

Max: So, the flowers here are really pretty, aren't they?

Suki: Yeah, Max I need to tell you something-

Max (interrupts her): I'm sorry Suki. It's just that I...

Suki: It's not your fault Max even I acted a little out of hand; It's just that you... are my first friend and I don't want to lose you.

Max (smiles): Thanks Suki, you are also my first friend.

Max: Who were those children in the library?

Suki: Oh, they are the duke's children Azra and Ai.

Max

After our conversation I went with Suki back to the library to meet the kids, I stayed behind Suki this time till she finished introducing me to the kids. After our introduction, I began my conversation with Azra while Suki talked to Ai.

Max: So, do you come to the library often?

Azra: Yeah, my sister loves this place a lot so I often come with her.

Max: Ahh, so tell me, is the duke often busy?

Azra: Yeah, he barely even sees us anymore, but he is pretty cool and strong, just last night I saw him go to the arena but it looked like he was hiding something.

As expected from an eight-year-old kid born with a golden spoon in his mouth, I easily got some useful information; extracting information could have never been easier but I might need him for later so it's best to be on good terms with him. Now I only need to find out what the duke was hiding.
