Chapter 7: The Duke's Secret

At night, I snuck into the arena through a secret passage below, the only problem was that Azra was with me and how did that happen?

Azra

I was getting ready to sleep when I saw Max through my bedroom window, it looked like he was going to the arena. What was going on? I knew I needed to follow him; he might get lost in such a place.

Max

We were here now, the secret place Azra was talking about, now it better be something worthwhile. As I went in, I found a secret passage.

Azra: I think that's enough exploring for one day

Max: What! But I didn't bring you here, did I? You followed me. Besides, you made it till here right; might as well see where this leads to.

Azra: Ff...fine

We continued to explore the passage until we entered a huge underground ruin. As soon as we entered; a ray of light struck Azra and he disappeared, I turned behind and saw the duke.

Max: Uncle, what did you do to him; and what is this place?

Ayame: What are you doing here Max?

Max: Ahh, well, I lost my way to the bathroom.

Ayame (Chuckling): Oh, fine, to answer your question this is my research; here I come to solve all the major problems in Conmoditas and find the answer to all my questions.

Max: So, this is where you store your prisoners also.

Ayame: Precise... Hey, who told you that?

Max: Oh nothing, it's just that this place is filled with dreadful aura, so I'm guessing it's of the man we encountered in the forest.

Ayame: ...

Max: You didn't kill him did you, that flash show was just to fool everyone else. It was actually a teleportation spell.

Ayame: Ha ha ha, you are just like Zen; even he used to explore all his possibilities.

Max: Well, thank you but... (hears the sound of glass shattering suddenly)

Max: Should we check that out?

Ayame: No, have some faith in my guards.

Max: All I have faith in is my guts.

Ayame: Well, forget it, what was the actual reason you came here

Max: Well, in the forest I was fighting with that creature and then I suddenly blacked out, what happened to me, uncle?

Max

I had heard that before, Satan's prowess; allows Satan himself to take control over my body when I lose consciousness but due to my body's condition right now it was dangerous for him to emerge out of me, but what people wanted was to harness the power for the devil himself, if wrong people got their hands on this power it could result in the destruction of this world; well, if they don't kill themselves mastering this power first.

Max: I don't think it's only one man that's after me, it's more like a whole organization.

Ayame: I don't think it's the Froshians, they won't be this direct.

Max: I don't know myself, guess we will find out when the guards catch that creature.

(a guard hastily enters the ruins catching his breath): My lord, we lost him.

Max: A little faith he says.

Ayame: Heh heh, well I guess we just have to wait for the next window of opportunity.
