Chapter 25
Logan's heart seized when he heard that; he couldn't believe his ears. He gazed at Mr. Albert, hoping to hear something else, but Albert's dead eyes kicked his heart.
Albert moved closer to the nearest table and places his briefcase there.
“Captain Logan, I hope you know what you just did.”
He gazed at Logan.
“You are a dead man.”
Logan collapsed to his knees immediately; this could get him in prison. He broke the laws by using force to bring Damien here.
“I never knew Damien can afford Mr. Albert? It's not about being able to afford him. Mr. Albert doesn't work with trash; he only works with the top and the very most influential men. How come this pauper is his client?”
He murmured to himself
“Mr Albert—”
“Will you get the handcuffs off him immediately!!”
Benjamin roars with rage. Logan quivers with fear; he doesn't know the man, but his tone carries authority.
His hands were shaking as he removed the handcuffs from Damien's hands. Damien uttered it when he was free.
“You called me a rapist; and you're letting go of me?”
Logan's heart jumped; he can't believe Damien's words; the paupers want to put him in trouble, but he dares not voice it out; he still doesn't understand what is going on here.
“it was a mistake”
Damien's eyebrows moved a little. He knows Logan isn't against him; he is just being controlled by Doris. He wonders how much Doris offered him.
He can't believe the captain could be this corrupt.
“You said you have evidence; where is the evidence now?”
Logan almost lost his balance. His head becomes dizzy; he knows this could land him in deep boiling water. If he doesn't react quickly, his body will get toasted.
“I was just joking.”
Logan playfully touches Damien; he can't make any mistake here; this might cost him his job. No wonder Mrs.Doris couldn't do anything to this bastard.
Logan shivered with fear. What is going to happen to him now?
“You were joking. You misused your power by bringing me here, and you wanted to deprive me of my rights; you threatened to send me to prison without evidence; you—”
“Please, I was drunk. I got drunk.”
Albert chuckled. The young man just made his job easier, but he wonders who the young man is to Benjamin. He hasn't seen Benjamin this furious before; looking at the young man, he doesn't have any rich qualities, which makes him more afraid to mess up the situation.
“How about we start talking about the reason you forcefully brought my client here and the evidence you threaten him with?”
Albert adjusts his tie.
“If there is nothing to hold my client for, you and your boys will be doomed to leave this country.”
Logan was already shivering; he doesn't have any evidence. He made that up to force Damien to submit, but it seems that was a terrible idea.
He steps to the middle and drops to his knees. As a police officer, one that carries the badge with honor and a warm smile, he has never been this ashamed of himself before. He has been receiving medals recently for an outstanding jobs, and he vows to protect the citizens. He imagined what will happen if this gets out.
“I have no evidence. I made it up.”
Logan buried his head in the ground. His men join him immediately; they don't want to be kicked out of the police force.
Damien look at Logan disgusted
“You don't have any evidence. captain Logan. What a nice joke! You are truly a talented comedian.”
Benjamin's face swelled upon hearing the bastard words. He stepped forward to slap him, but the door opened, and the chief came out with a dashing step.
He rushes to the scene, and he is shaken up when he saw Benjamin was already here; a man who denotes a hefty sum of money to the security department, his contribution has greatly benefited the police division.
He wonders why he sounded so rough on the phone.
“Sir Benjamin, you are here already.”
He stepped forward, then he noticed Captain Logan and his boys kneeling.
“What is going on here?”
He marched forward, and then he spotted Albert Reid. the best attorney in the country, his body was starting to shake, knowing something was wrong.
Benjamin pointed at Logan when the chief came closer.
“This captain, or whatever position he owns, Took his boys and arrested this gentleman over there, without evidence or any crime in mind. He wanted to force him to admit to something he didn't commit.”
Benjamin inhales deeply with anger as he faces the chief.
“I am so ashamed of this division. I must do something about this.”
The chief's heart skipped. He faces Logan, his eyebrows closing his sight.
“Captain Logan, you did that to this young man.”
Logan was already in the state of embracing death; his heart reached a heavy shock when he heard Benjamin's name. He didn't know this was the generous man his bosses and high-class men had always talked about; he knew death was the only way for him now.
“I was drunk, sir. I was drunk.”
“Drunk!!!!”
The chief roars and moved the chair around. He faces Benjamin and bows quickly.
“Please, Sir Benjamin. I will deal with this immediately; this is one of the bad eggs that we are trying to fish out of the division; thankfully, one of them just exposed himself today.”
He faces Logan with a more deadly face.
“Clear your tables immediately; you and your men are suspended and will be fired soon. You are a disgrace to the entire police force, and I will personally come out to address why you got laid off.”
Logan slept on the floor immediately.
“Sir, please forgive me. Forgive me.”
The Chief looked at Benjamin's face and saw it was still deadly; he quickly took action.
“Shut up”
“Shut up your mouth!!”
He boots Logan countless times on his back. Logan felt the pain, but he could not stop. He turned to Damien immediately and bows his head at Damien's feet.
“Please forgive me. I was wronged, and drunk, I didn't know what came over me please forgive me.”
Damien stared at him; he knew Doris must've cooked him up with lies, but he went too far.
He checked his watch, and time wasn't on his side. He had already spent so much time here that he planned to surprise Doris, so he uttered
“Take this as your last warning. Next time, don't you ever use your power to abuse orders; the public gave you this power to protect them, not attack them.”
Damien walked away; he didn't like the fact that this was happening in a police station.
“Thank you”
“Thank you Sir! , thank you Sir!”
Logan bows his head to the Ground. Benjamin squeezed his fist; he wondered why Damien was soft here; they should teach this bastard so much manners.
Damien stopped halfway and said
“Your one-year salary is going to be donated to the public; that should be a way of repenting of your deeds.”
Logan screamed immediately.
“Thank you, sir!!.”
Damien left the police station and went home, but he didn't find anybody at home. He decided to go to Sir Bernard House, and immediately he reached the doors, he could hear jubilation and cheers.
“Finally, we're free from that mad man”
