Chapter 29

Megan looks at Damien in disbelief; she knows he was just trying to pull her legs. Damien is poor; he can't even afford a cheap meal, let alone a gift.

She faces Damien.

“I don't have time for that; I'm going home to rest. Book a taxi, please.”

Damien booked the taxi; it seems Megan doesn't believe him; he will buy it and show it to her. He wonders what will make Megan standout—he needs to buy something really expensive.

“Don't stress yourself too much; I promise to take care of the gift aspect. Allow me to do that, okay?”

Megan frowns hearing Damien's words; his behavior irritates her sometimes. He knows he doesn't have money, but he pretends he is super rich. He wasn't like this before; she wonders who changed him.

“Okay, do whatever you want.”

She just wants Damien to stop talking, she knows Damien can't get something expensive, she knows she will definitely get something nice with her money.

“Oh, the taxi had arrived.”

Damien followed Megan into the taxi.

Megan left for work, and Damien came out of his separate room.

Terry and Doris faces were full of smiles when they saw him.

“Good morning”

Damien greeted both of them, but they refused to answer. Doris decided to speak as she pointed her finger at Damien.

“Soon, you will be gone from this house; your time is getting closer.”

Terry quickly joined his wife.

“I tried to talk to you as a father, but you refused to listen to me. Now the miserable life of yours will soon come to an end.”

Damien wanted to speak, but Doris cut him off.

“You can't plead with us now; it's too late. You better go inside, take that bag of yours, and leave this house immediately before the storm comes.”

Damien burst into laughter.

“Let that big thing of yours come; I will be right here waiting. If both of you think I will leave my wife with my unborn child, then you must be joking.”

Terry squeezed his fists; he couldn't believe this fool want to die. Well, that doesn't concern him anymore.

“I can see you want to die; I won't waste my strength on you because you're already a dead man.”

Damien looks at both of them.

“Don't worry, I will be a superb husband to your daughter.”

Doris couldn't stand Damien's annoying words anymore, she yelled at him.

“Bastard! You think that little luck of yours can save you this time?”

Damien walked away, tired of their nagging. He decided to go somewhere quiet. He planned to call his father today; Benjamin sent him his father's number yesterday.

Damien called the number, and his father picked up the call.

“Hello son”

Damien's mouth was shaking; he was not expecting his father to know his number.

“Hello..father”

Lord Barron burst into tears after hearing his son's voice after a very long time.

“I'm so sorry, Damien. Please forgive me. It was so foolish of me to have sent you away, just to protect you. I know you have suffered hardship, and I'm very sorry for that.”

Damien didn't expect his father to be this emotional; he wasn't mad at his father, and he knows it wasn't his fault that things turned out this way.

“It's okay, father; I know it wasn't your fault; you only wanted to keep me safe. I have nothing against you, father.”

Lord Barron's voice looks relieved; he was not expecting Damien to say those words easily.

“I'm still ashamed of myself; I couldn't protect you as a father, but I'm ready to make it up now; just tell me anything you want, and consider it done.”

Damien quickly responded to his father.

“I don't want anything for now, father; with the money you have given me, I have only spent a little of it. I don't want anything now.”

Damien decided to change the topic because he doesn't want his father to feel sorry anymore.

“How is your health?”

“Oh, I feel stronger hearing your voice after a very long time.”

Lord Barron quickly uttered

“Benjamin told me everything; he said you have a wife now; he also said her family is very annoying; I hope they're not disturbing—”

Damien quickly responded; he wasn't surprised Benjamin told his father everything.

“Yes, father, I have a wife now, and she is carrying my child. Don't worry about her family; I can take care of them.”

Lord Barron was proud of his son manly attitude; he can't say he is happy that he is married, but that doesn't matter; as long as he finally found his son, whatever condition he is currently in, he is okay with it.

“Okay, son, I will soon be back in the country; we will discuss something important. We will meet secretly in our house in Blue Haven.”

Damien was shocked to hear the location of their house: a beautiful island where only the most powerful family live, and there are rumors that none of them own a house there; they are all on rent.

“Father, but it's on the internet that nobody can buy a house in Blue Haven; how did you manage to get one?”

Lord Barron chuckled.

“Didn't Benjamin inform you that we owned Blue Haven? Everything there belongs to us.”

Damien's phone almost fell from his hand; he finally understood why everyone was afraid of Benjamin.

“Don't be too surprised, son, when I get back. We have so many things to discuss. Please take care of yourself. Don't hesitate to ask Benjamin for anything.”

Damien managed to answer.

“okay father”

Damien ended the call; his heart was pounding at the thought of Blue Haven, something worth over a trillion dollars.

The island stands at one of the most beautiful spots in the world, so many people want to live there, but only the most powerful and wealthy stand a chance to rent a unit.

Damien sighed. He brought his phone out and called Megan. He forgot to ask her what kind of gift they are going to present at the wedding.

He hasn't been to one before, and he wants to buy something Megan will love; after all, Megan should know what her friend likes.

Damien drops his phone for the fifth time. He knows he is not in a good relationship with Megan, but she always picks up his call.

He wonders what is going on. He decided to go to her workplace, the Bernard family company.

When Damien arrived there, he could see a crowd on the first floor; they looked like they were throwing a party.

Damien came closer to get a look; his eyebrows moved seeing Megan in the middle of the circle created by the crowd. Vincent was standing close to her.
