Chapter 28

Everyone was still in shock; they couldn't believe what Damien had said to them.

Lady Helen couldn't believe this bastard was threatening them, who does he think he is anyway. She spoke out.

“Who do you think you are–?”

Damien cut her shut.

“I hope all of you understood me; I will be taking my leave now.Thank you for the food.”

Damien turned and left.

Lady Helen couldn't hold her anger anymore; she wanted to voice it when Megan and her friend entered the house.

Megan was surprised to see almost everyone in the house, and everything seems to be in a mess.

“What is going on here? What is this look in everyone's faces?”

Jessica's eyebrows pushed down. Seeing Megan, she pointed to Damien.

“Your useless husband called the police on us.”

Megan's eyes widen; she was surprised by Jessica's words, but she knows Damien won't do such a thing.

“Is that even possible? You most be joking.”

“Don't act surprised; we know both of you planned this together.”

Dennis cut Megan off.

Megan was a little annoyed, by Dennis words, they know she doesn't know what is going on here, but they still wants to blame her.

“Uncle Dennis, I'm confused.”

“Will you shut that mouth of yours? If you had followed our instructions, this bastard wouldn't have the audacity to be this rude, and he even reported us to the police. If not for the intervention of your grandfather, your aunts, and uncle, even your parents would've been in the by cell now.”

Lady Helen cut Megan off.

Megan knows Damien doesn't have the power to arrest anyone here; she believes something must've gone wrong.

She moved closer to Damien to ask him personally.

“What happened? Did you report my family to the police?”

Jessica didn't allow Damien to respond; she yelled at Megan.

“You fool!! You want to believe the words of this bastard over your family, someone who raped you!”

She faces Dennis.

“Now I believe what Dennis said to me; both of you planned all this; no wonder you refused to abort that bastard you're carrying.”

Dennis joins his sister.

“I told everyone she was just pretending to be raped; I know both of them knew each other before the incident, and they've been flexing around shamelessly!!”

Terry couldn't stand both his sister and brother slandering his daughter, especially in front of a visitor.

“Ain't you the one that called the police on him? Why are both of you accusing my daughter wrongly?”

Terry hated Damien so much that he wants him gone, but he can't stand them accusing Megan wrongly for what this bastard did to her.

Lady Helen was trying to process what happened earlier. She knows Damien can't command such power to make Captain Logan so respectful to him; maybe this bastard is some kind of wizard.

Sir Bernard's face was squeezed; he had been lost in thoughts, and the fruit of it was boiling anger.

“Silent!!”

He glanced at everyone's face with a deadly look.

“I'm disappointed in all of you; you're busy fighting among yourselves in front of our guest when we have one enemy standing over there.”

He pointed at Damien. Lady Helen was full of thoughts; she totally forgot Megan had returned from work with one of her friend, Patricia. She quickly composed herself with a bright smile on her face.

“Patricia, I'm so sorry about the little mess you just witnessed, but it's over now. Come sit with me.”

Patricia looked at Megan in disgust; she couldn't believe this was the man Megan finally got married to; it's such a disgrace for somebody of her status. She walked to Lady Helen.

“When did you return from abroad?"

“Last week, mother.”

“I can see your fiance is doing a very nice job taking care of you."

Patricia smiles brightly.

“Mother, you can say that again; my fiance, Gerald, is going really well; he provides me with anything I want without even muttering it.”

Lady Helen's eyes open slowly; the name sounds familiar to her. She holds Patricia's hands.

“Which of the Geralds are you referring to?”

“Oh, sorry for not adding his first name; I mean Lawrence Gerald, Vincent's younger brother.”

Lady Helen couldn't believe her ears; she managed to smile, but inside her, she was mad. This is the life she had always imagined Megan to have, but this beast destroyed everything.

“That's so nice. I'm so happy for you.”

Jessica decided to make a mockery of Megan, so she pointed at her.

“Can't you see the caliber of men your friend is dating, but you choose to have a secret affair with this pauper?”

Patricia looks at Damien, disgusted by everything about him; she can't believe Megan chose this pig among all the godly men chasing her.

“It's time for me to get back at her for all the men that left me just to try their luck on her.”

She said to herself with a bright smile on her face, and she quickly stood up to break the news to everyone.

“Mother, father, I'm inviting you people to my wedding. Lawrence Gerald and I will be getting married next week.”

She smiled at Megan, then brought out the invitation cards from a bag.

“As a good friend of Megan, I took it upon myself to invite everyone.”

She handed over the cards to Sir Bernard.

Everyone was shocked; they didn't expect Lawrence Gerald to be getting married to Patricia. She noticed the surprised look on their faces.

“we will be the first couple to be having a wedding in sky-high hotel since the opening ceremony”

she smiled brightly

“I will be taking my leave now.”

She stopped in front of Megan.

“I hope I will be getting a marriage present from you; all of our friends will be presenting their gifts that day, and I have a special present for the best gift.”

She tapped Megan on her shoulder.

“I'm just informing you because we are friends; I do not want you to disgrace yourself on that day, so please come with a better gift.”

She walked out of the door.

Megan squeezed her fists; she couldn't believe this was the reason Patricia insisted on coming to the house, just so she could say this on her family's face.

Lady Helen's eyes were deadly; she couldn't believe Patricia was getting married to Lawrence Gerald; her fist displayed some veins, she wouldn't allow this bastard to destroy Megan's life. enough of this madness.

She whispered some words to her husband.

Sir Bernard pointed at Megan and Damien.

“Both of you should leave this minute; we are having a meeting.”

Megan could see the anger in her grandfather's eyes; she didn't want to upset him any longer, so she turned and left.

“Come, let go.”

Damien wasn't planning to leave, but Megan's action made him change his mind, and he followed her outside.

He decided to explain what happened to Megan, and for the first time, Megan listened to him. He was happy about that, and he also knows Patricia's words angered Megan.

He needs to cheer her up.

“Don't worry about the gifts; I will personally buy them. I won't allow anyone to mock you at the wedding.”
