Chapter 27

Dennis finished talking with Logan, and he faced his father with a big smile.

“He will be here shortly.”

Sir Bernard cheeks moved up; he heard the conversation between Dennis and the famous captain, and he promised to be here before ten minutes.

Lady Helen still don't want things to go this way; she fears a little bit of information might be exposed, which is not good for Megan.

She clears her throat, drawing everyone's attention to her, including Damien.

“Last chance, Damien. Take the money and leave before Captain Logan arrives here.”

Jessica looks at her mother with a disappointed look; she can't believe her mother still wants to offer this trash money after he rejected all their proposals.

“Never!! We are not going to give him a penny, and don't even think of changing your mind.”

Dennis follows after his sister.

“Mom, don't be afraid of Megan's pregnancy getting exposed; Captain Logan knows how to handle cases without them reaching the media, and this bastard is just a nobody; no one knows if he is on this earth; he can be locked away easily.”

Lady Helen understands their words, but she doesn't want this bastard to ruin any of her plans for Megan after she most have get married. She just wants to settle things here and now.

Damien cleared his throat, drawing everybody's attention, then he faced Lady Helen.

“I am not a bad husband; I can never do that to my wife, not when she is pregnant, even if she is not.”

One thing that keeps Damien attracted to Megan is that she refused to abort the baby, which is what made Sir Bernard angrily marry her off to him. He still wonders why Megan refused to abort the baby, even when they took everything away from her. She is truly a remarkable person, and he really wants to stand by her side. As long as Megan is not the one saying this, he is okay.

He knows his relationship with Megan is not that solid, but he plans to get closer to her and be the husband she desires.

“I am going home to sleep this off.”

Damien stands up, and everybody blocks his way immediately; they are not going to let him leave.

“You are going nowhere, young man.”

Dennis and the other family members blocked his way.

Terry and Doris added to the wall; this is their last chance to kick this bastard out of their daughter's life; they must fight till the end.

Dennis was about to grip Damien when the police siren sound was heard.

Everybody stopped their attack and composed themselves. Finally, this madman will leave this family for good.

They wonder how Damien's attitude changed. He used to go to the family to beg for money; he would do anything to get $100, but suddenly his character changed, and he refused to accept ten million dollars.

It's strange, but they knew he was just a sick man; maybe his mother died and he decided to take revenge on them. What a fool he is to think a pauper like him can challenge the likes of them.

Their cheeks moved as they spotted over three police cars stopping at the front of the house.

Maybe Damien truly escaped from the police station.

The door opened more widely, and over ten police officers marched inside with Captain Logan leading the way. He stopped when they entered, and he spoke immediately.

“Get them”

Five policemen marched forward toward the Bernard family. Dennis stepped forward with a big smile.

“That is him.”

He pointed at Damien, but to his greatest surprise, one of the policemen gripped him while the other handcuffed his hands.

“What is the meaning of this, Captain Logan?”

Doris and Terry was in handcuffs too, and they were puzzled as they stared at Captain Logan. Damien is supposed to be the one getting arrested; why are they arresting them?

Doris was surprised to see Victoria Son; she only knows him by his face; she has not meet him before.

“Didn't your mother tell you everything?”

She points at Damien with annoyance.

“This is the bastard she wants you to arrest.”

Logan didn't listen to their words; he could see this woman was an enemy to his progress. He lost his job. Even after Damien left, the chief still wanted to get him off the station. his good deeds saved him and Damien words. Now this same family had the guts to call him again to arrest the same man that turned the station upside down.

“Mr. Damien, are you hurt? Did these people touch you?”

Everybody's jaws slacked to the ground; they couldn't believe Captain Logan's words.

Jessica spoke out immediately.

“Captain Logan, with all due respect, we called you here to arrest this madman, not—”

“How dare you tell that to the captain? You want me arrest an innocent man. You must be stupid.”

He faces the remaining officer standing.

“Add her; she tried to bribe a law enforcer.”

Jessica's eyes widen. What is the meaning of this? Why is Damien so untouchable?

Doris believes Logan didn't hear her words; she came closer to him.

“You don't remember me; I am your—”

“Silence!!”

Logan's face turned ugly.

“Take these people to the car immediately; they are going to receive hell in the station.”

The policemen pull them away.

Sir Bernard roars.

“Stop this minute; what is going on here?”

How can a policeman raid his house and pack all his children? Does he not know whose house he entered?

“Captain Logan, care to explain what is going on here? You were called by my son to arrest this young man in the middle, or did you forget your purpose of coming here?”

“I am very much aware of my purpose of coming here, and that is to arrest these three people for breaking the laws and framing an innocent man. Sir Bernard, with all due respect, let me do my job; remember the law is above everybody.”

The policemen took action again. They were out to carry it out when Damien cleared his throat and said.

“Let them go.”

Everybody was shocked by Damien's words. What is this psycho saying? Does he think he can control the police?

Captain Logan gave the boys the order. Damien continues.

“They are my family; I know how to take care of them. You can leave, Captain Logan.”

Logan bows 90 degrees immediately.

“I will take my leave now.”

Logan and his boys left. The room was quiet; all eyes were on Damien. How can he control the police? This is insane and impossible to believe. They can't understand what is going on here.

Damien is a pauper, and a nobody in society; why is everybody showing him respect?

Damien glanced at everybody's face and uttered

“This is your last warning. I won't take this shitty behavior next time; anybody that tries to get me out of this family or tries to decide for my wife will be punished.”
