As Jack stepped out of the Black Building, he found Leo leaning against the car, a cigarette between his lips. When Leo saw Jack approaching, safe and sound, a flicker of surprise crossed his face, though he hid it quickly. He didn't say a word. Leo knew exactly how dangerous the Black Building was, and how brutal its punishments could be for anyone who dared to break the rules.
There was a story Leo once heard about a man who had punched someone just like Jack, but Jack had been one step ahead, directly twisting the man's wrist. The man had been caught almost immediately. Within hours, he was dragged into a basement room, beaten within an inch of his life, and left hanging by his wrists for three days without food or water. When he was finally let down, he could barely stand. That was how the Black Building dealt with rule-breakers.
