Heiress (1)

Penelope didn't sleep well that night, turning over and over in her bed, her mind racing with questions and uncertainties. The following day, she woke up bleary-eyed and exhausted, her unease lingering.

She was surprised to see her husband at home, having coffee while waiting for her. Ever since they married, it had been unusual for her to see Raven home. He usually went to work for business meetings, and his presence in their kitchen on a weekday morning was rare.

"Good morning, dear. You are quite early today." Raven greeted her.

Penelope smiled, trying to push aside the nagging feeling that something was amiss.

"Good morning, Raven. Yes, I couldn't sleep well last night," she replied, hoping he wouldn't notice the tremor in her voice.

Raven's eyes softened as he looked at her with concern, setting down his coffee cup.

"Is everything okay, Penelope? You seem troubled."

Penelope hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up.
