Chapter 12: Seduced

Pa’s last will had Odessa in a buzz. Once the announcement was made, I took office—assisted by Anton and Uncle Sasha. I welcome the fact that Nikolai paved the way for new routes for arms shipments into Europe via Russia. This made our Odessa gang get new orders in and out of New York. In a week we were all rushing to beat the deadlines and get everything ready. 

Anton rushed into my office. “Ivan, you will not believe how much profit we have made in a week.” 

“I can,” I smiled at him and leaned back on the seat. “I cannot believe how much sleep I have not had in a week. I need my life back.”

“I have a suggestion. Can you invite Nikolai over for dinner? I feel like we are taking advantage of him,” Anton voiced his concerns. 

“No. You and Uncle Sasha go,” I refused. “I just want to go home and sleep.”

“Uncle Sasha already left. He does nothing but roam around the office and tell Boris of our every move. Alexa is already annoyed.”
