Finn
When I closed my eyes, I saw Vivian cold and motionless after she was kidnapped. My breath caught and I jerked awake.
She mumbled softly and squirmed in my grasp.
As much as I didn’t want to leave her, I didn’t want to wake her, either. I glanced down at her. Lips slightly parted, breathing heavily. Her hand pressed against my heart. She was so peaceful and relaxed. I couldn’t take that from her.
I brushed my nose through her hair and softly kissed her temple. Gently, I slipped out of the bed and found my clothes. At the bedroom door, I looked back and saw her clinging to my pillow, her face buried in it.
A smile tugged at my lips.
Outside the cottage, security patrolled. I found the team leader near the front porch.
“How’s it looking tonight?”
“Nothing out of the ordinary.”
“I’m going back to the main house. Call in an extra security team while I’m gone.”
A deep furrow dented his brow. “My team can handle it, Boss.”
