Chapter 29: One Condition

“You’re going to let me go?” I propped myself up on my elbows and studied Finn’s haggard face.

The purple bags under his eyes told me he hadn’t slept and his eyes were filled with all kinds of scattered emotions.

As I shifted, the sheet fell away from my breasts, settling around my waist.

For a moment, Finn’s eyes left mine and traveled up and down my exposed torso. His lips twitched slightly and I got that feeling again, like I was something for him to devour.

My stomach lurched and I let out a long, slow breath. “What changed your mind?”

“I worked out a plan that will give me peace of mind.” His eyes continued to roam over me but his voice was firm and steady.

“You’re one condition?”

He nodded, still not meeting my gaze. “I’m sending Grace and two guards with you. You need to remain in their sight at all times.”

I frowned. “Two guards is… reasonable. Why are you being so reasonable?”
