As they stood at the entrance, ready to step inside the unfamiliar facility, Momo's keen eyes caught sight of a lone child sitting on the ground nearby. Concerned, she scanned the area until she spotted Mandalay, who was conveniently close to the building. Without hesitation, Momo approached the pro hero and inquired, "I've been wondering since we arrived here earlier. Who is that child? And what is he doing here?"
Mandalay, glancing around to ensure they were alone, pointed to the child and explained, "Oh, this little guy? He's my cousin's son. He lives with us now." They moved closer to the child, named Kota, and Mandalay encouraged him, "Don't be shy, Kota. Say hi to everyone. You're going to be around them for the next week."
Momo took a step forward and extended a friendly hand, introducing herself, "Hey there. My name's Momo Yaoyorozu. I'm from the UA High School hero course. It's nice to meet you!"Kota, however, reacted with annoyance, promptly looking away from Momo with an irritated grunt before walking away, muttering, "The last thing I want is to hang with some wannabe heroes."
Momo was taken aback by this unexpected response. No one had ever walked away from her like that before. She pondered, "I wonder what might be bothering him. Maybe I came on too strong with the introduction."
Meanwhile, as Momo and Mandalay had their interaction, Izuku noticed Momo's unease and approached her. Concerned, he asked, "Momo, is something bothering you?" Momo hesitated for a moment before answering, "A little, Izuku. I'm just surprised. No one has ever walked away from me like that before. I wonder what might be bothering him."
Their conversation was interrupted by Mr. Aizawa, who called out to all the students, "Enough playing around. Get your stuff off the bus. Once your bags are in your rooms, we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that, you can bathe and sleep. Tomorrow your training starts in earnest. You'd better get a move on. It looks so good!" The students dispersed to begin settling into their temporary home, with Momo's curiosity about Kota lingering in the back of her mind.
After Sero had stowed away his belongings in the boys' room, he spotted Ashido and greeted her cheerfully. "So, you girls got stuck in a tiny little bunk room, didn't ya?"
Ashido, seeing Sero's enthusiasm, inquired, "Why? Is the guys' room really big?" Sero, grinning, replied, "Oh, yeah?" The playful banter continued when Ashido asked, "So, like, can I come check it out later or what?" Sero, a bit caught off guard but still good-natured, replied, "Sure! Whenever you want."
As their conversation unfolded, Kirishima and Kaminari, who happened to be nearby, joined in. Kirishima expressed his satisfaction, saying, "It's so good. I can't get enough!" Kaminari chimed in, "My stomach is so happy right now. It's as good as Lunch Rush's food! I think I might eat until I burst."
Just then, a delightful aroma wafted through the air seemingly out of nowhere. Kaminari, drawn to the scent of meat, asked, "I smell beef. Hey, wait, you got meat over there?"Pixie Bob, the source of the mouthwatering aroma, replied, "Yeah. Jeez, it's like you guys haven't eaten in a week or something. Anyway, today's the only time we'll be doing this for you. So make sure you kids enjoy it."
Kaminari and Kirishima expressed their gratitude for the delicious meal, savoring every bite. Meanwhile, amidst this bustling scene, they could hear and see Mandalay shouting, "Hey, Kota! Can you bring me those vegetables?" The world of aspiring heroes was filled with camaraderie and shared moments of joy and laughter.
Within the soothing embrace of the hot spring, Mineta couldn't help but voice his lewd fantasies. "The food and stuff is fine, but to be honest, I'm hungry for somethin' else. Just one little wall. A few pieces of wood. And heaven's waiting on the other side. A bath full of boobs and babes ready to be seen by yours truly."
Kaminari, having heard Mineta's inappropriate thoughts one too many times, sighed and asked, "Are you over there talking to yourself again, Mineta?"
While the boys engaged in their somewhat peculiar conversation, the girls, too, relished the relaxing ambiance. Ashido, submerged in the warm waters, exclaimed, "This feels amazing!" Jiro, standing beside her, added, "I'm so glad they've got a hot spring here!"
The scene transitioned to Mineta, who was hatching a mischievous plan. "Bathe, my angels. How stupid of them not to stagger the times that we'd be naked next to each other. I hope they never learn from their mistakes."
Iida, disapproving of Mineta's behavior, stood up and admonished him. "You're to stop this at once, Mineta. What you're doing is demeaning. For both the girls and yourself. It's shameful behavior!"
Mineta, unperturbed, continued his lewd monologue. "Now I know why I have this Quirk. It's because walls are meant to be climbed. I'm coming for you, ladies, Plus Ultra! All that Quirk training. All the times I almost d*ed. It was to prepare for this shining momen--!"
But before he could embark on his ill-conceived mission, a firm hand and a basket appeared out of nowhere. The hand pushed Mineta down into the ground, and the basket thwacked him squarely on the head. Dazed, Mineta looked around, only to lock eyes with Kota. With disdain in his voice, Kota declared, "Before you become a hero, you should learn how to be a good human."
In a moment of seeming embarrassment, Mineta surveyed his surroundings and noticed Bakugo, who regarded him with a look of pure disappointment. As Bakugo walked away, he muttered to himself, "Why was he even allowed into UA? They should have run a background check before they enrolled students."
Meanwhile, on the girls' side of the hot spring, Tsuyu couldn't help but voice her disdain. "Mineta really is the worst, isn't he?" she remarked.
Ashido, winking playfully at Kota, expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thanks so much, Kota, babe! We owe you one!" However, when Kota turned around, he inadvertently caught sight of some of the girls in a rather exposed state. The girls let out a collective scream of surprise, and an equally shocked Kota fainted and tumbled over the wall.
Swiftly, Iida leaped into action, catching the fallen Kota before he could be hurt. He carefully carried him to Mandalay, who happened to be conversing with Izuku and Momo. Mandalay, noticing Lida's arrival with Kota, inquired about the situation. Lida promptly explained the chain of events to her.
Mandalay, wearing a grateful expression, responded, "The rush from the fall likely caused him to faint. Thank you. Eraser warned me one of you boys was a little girl crazy, so I stationed Kota up there to keep watch. I suppose that's the danger of teaching kids your age. Well, anyway. I'm just glad he's all right. You must've moved pretty fast to catch him."
As the conversation continued, Kota began to stir. After assessing the situation, he couldn't resist muttering, "The last thing I want is to hang with some wannabe heroes." With that, he darted away, leaving Lida somewhat perplexed as he, too, decided to depart.
Mandalay returned her attention to Momo and Izuku, who were still present. Momo, her expression reflecting her confusion, mused, "Um. He doesn't like heroes very much, does he? I admit, that's weird to me. Most everyone I know wants to be one. It's... my dream. So, it's just wild to think that a kid his age is against heroes. Hates them, even."
Mandalay responded to their inquiries with a somber tone. "How observant. Of course, he isn't alone. There are many in our society who don't approve of us. If he'd had a normal childhood, maybe he would've admired heroes like you did growing up."
Izuku and Momo gasped in unison, their curiosity piqued. "What happened?"Pixie Bob joined the conversation, filling in the gaps in the story. "It was Mandalay's cousins. Kota's parents, that is. They were heroes, too. But they were m*rdered."
The revelation sent a shiver down their spines, reminding them of the fragility of the world they aspired to protect. They couldn't help but recall Izuku's mother. It was a stark reminder of the dangers heroes faced daily.
Pixie Bob continued, "It was a villain. Two years back. Kota was still so small. They were k*lled while protecting citizens. Perhaps the most respectable way for any hero to die. But..."Mandalay picked up where Pixie Bob left off, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "How do you even begin to explain to a child that his parents d*ed honorable deaths? They were his entire world. Everything. But to him, his parents had left him behind. And all the while, they were being praised. Because... their sacrifice was such a noble one. Honestly, he doesn't seem to like us that much either. We're heroes, like they were. I'm sure he feels like he's stuck here because he has nowhere else to go. Heroes just don't make any sense to Kota. After all, if his parents hadn't been heroes, they would still be here."
Izuku and Momo were left with a heavy heart, contemplating the weight of the hero profession, both the glory and the pain it brought to those involved. As they walked back to their room, the atmosphere was laden with a sense of melancholy. Suddenly, Izuku's hand unconsciously found Momo's, and she turned to look at him. Izuku's gaze remained forward, his expression solemn, but Momo understood. She offered a comforting smile and rested her head on Izuku's shoulder as they continued their walk, the bond between them growing stronger with each step.
The following morning, Aizawa stood before the class, his expression as stoic as ever. He began to explain, "Good morning, class. Today, we begin a training camp that will increase your strength. Our goal is to increase your skills exponentially, so that each of you earns a provisional license. This will allow you to face the dangers that continue to fester in the darkness. Proceed carefully."
Aizawa's gaze settled on Bakugo, who had already garnered a reputation for his explosive. "Look alive, Bakugo. Try throwing that for me."
Bakugo, ever confident and unflinching, responded, "Yeah, sure. Like in the fitness test."Aizawa acknowledged his response, saying, "That's right. When you first started school, your record was 805.9 meters. Let's see if you've improved."
Ashido, the cheerful girl of the class, chimed in, "Oh, I get it! We're checking our progress."Sero added optimistically, "A lot's happened to us in the last three months. Maybe he can throw it a whole mile now!"
Kirishima, always one to offer encouragement, cheered Bakugo on, saying, "C'mon, get it, Bakugo! I've got this. No one blink."
Bakugo stepped to the front, determination etched on his face. He muttered, "Explosion," and with a resounding boom, he hurled the ball. After the ball landed, Aizawa glanced at his measuring device and deadpanned, "That was 809.9 meters."
Bakugo grunted, clearly not satisfied but determined to improve further.
Aizawa continued his assessment, "You've had a single semester at UA, and due to your various experiences, all of you have definitely improved. But those improvements have mostly been limited to mental prowess and technical skill. With a slight increase in stamina thrown in along the way. Your Quirks really haven't grown that much stronger. Not on a fundamental level."
The students absorbed Aizawa's words, some feeling a mixture of anticipation and apprehension. Momo, recalling their past experiences and her own thoughts on the matter, couldn't help but acknowledge the truth in Aizawa's assessment. They had indeed focused on teamwork, basic exercises, and hero ethics, but their Quirks had received little direct training.Aizawa concluded, his tone serious, "That's why we're now going to focus on improving your powers. This'll be so hard, you'll feel like you're dying. Let's hope you all survive."
With that, the official start of the summer camp, filled with intense training and growth, had commenced.
