Chapter 2

Austin Harris stood silently looking at Jasmine Patterson. They had worked together the last five years and he had tried relentlessly to get her to go out with him. Every time she said no, he would try over and over again holding on to hope that she would eventually give in. He did not know what kept holding her back. He wondered if it was the fact that she did not mix business with pleasure or that he was white and she was black. Jasmine did not seem like the type who would judge a person by their color. However, he knew something kept her resistant to his charms. What he would do to have a tour of her mind. He was always amazed by her beauty. Jasmine was his angel.

Jasmine was a knockout and was oblivious to the fact. She had gorgeous brown eyes, a radiant smile, a petite figure, smooth brown skin, and a mystery about her. Jasmine looked up annoyed by this man. Austin smiled knowing each time he stared at her intensely it bothered her. "How can I help you?" she asked ignoring his green eyes. "Just checking in on you," he said. He wondered if there was a man in her life because Jasmine was so dedicated to her work and put too many overtime hours into the job.

"I don't need a babysitter Austin," she stated as she continued to type on her laptop. "I know but I want to ensure you are safe before I call it a day," he said. He never admitted it to her but he often stayed late to work because she would stay behind late in the evenings. Austin wanted to be there to keep her safe. Jasmine looked up at him once again. His piercing green eyes took her in once again. "Austin Harris, what do you want?" Jasmine asked. Austin folded his arms and grinned as if to say do you have to ask. Of course, he wanted to date her. Jasmine rolled her eyes as if she could read his mind. "Forget I asked," she said. "Jasmine, will you ever go out with me?" he asked. "I don't know if that is wise. I work for your family company and you have so many women in this company fawning after you. I am sure you are not short of female companionship," Jasmine pointed out. "One, I am not your boss. You work for my father Daniel Harris, so you are not interfering with the company by dating me. Secondly, I only have eyes for one woman at this office and that woman is you," Austin pointed out.

"I am not in the mood for you stalking me," Jasmine said getting up. She closed up her laptop and prepared to leave. "At least let me walk you to your car," he suggested. "Fine," Jasmine said closing her office door. Austin Harris was truly persistent and she was secretly impressed by it.
