Chapter 9
After running away from a furious Di su su Jake decided to visit Han Xiao's workshop so he went straight to there.
As Jake burst into Han Xiao's workshop, the air was thick with the scent of gunpowder and the sound of machinery humming. Han Xiao was hunched over his workbench, meticulously assembling what appeared to be a specialized type of ammunition. "Hey there, buddy," Jake greeted with a grin, sauntering over to inspect Han Xiao's handiwork. "What's cookin', besides those explosive rounds?"Han Xiao glanced up from his work, a hint of amusement in his eyes as he regarded Jake. "Just putting the finishing touches on these babies," he replied calmly, his tone betraying none of the frustration Jake's interruption may have caused. "They're designed to detonate on impact, perfect for taking out heavily armored targets."Unable to resist the temptation, Jake reached out and snagged a single round from the workbench, twirling it between his fingers with careless abandon. "Ooh, shiny," he remarked with a grin, his curiosity getting the best of him. But before he could think better of it, Jake accidentally triggered the explosive mechanism, causing the round to ignite in a burst of flame and sparks.Panic flashed across Jake's face as he realized the gravity of his mistake, but quick reflexes kicked in as he activated his shield ability, containing the explosion and preventing any serious damage to the workshop. "Well, that could have gone better," he quipped, his voice tinged with relief as he surveyed the charred remains of the round.Han Xiao let out a sigh, his expression a mix of exasperation and amusement as he watched Jake's antics. "What the hell is wrong with you man, you could have burnt down my workshop. Why can't you just act like an adult and behave. ," he said, shaking his head in disbelief. "But I think it's time we took some precautions." With that, Han Xiao produced a pair of handcuffs and promptly cuffed Jake to a nearby pipe, ensuring that he wouldn't cause any further chaos.Jake feigned a wounded expression, but couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. "Aw, come on, Han Xiao, don't you trust me?" he joked, rattling the handcuffs for effect. "I promise I'll behave... mostly." Despite his protests, Jake knew that he had pushed his luck too far this time, and resigned himself to his temporary confinement, knowing that it was all in good fun.
As Jake found himself cuffed to the pipe in Han Xiao's workshop, he settled onto the floor with a theatrical sigh, his expression a mix of mock indignation and amusement. "Well, this is a fine mess we've gotten ourselves into," he remarked with a smirk, wiggling his eyebrows playfully. "Remind me to add 'handcuffed by my friend' to the list of adventures in my memoirs."
Han Xiao chuckled at Jake's antics, shaking his head in amusement as he leaned against the workbench. "You never fail to keep things interesting, that's for sure," he replied with a grin.
"Did you meet anyone new here?" Han Xiao asked.
"Ohh, I meet Di su su lovely women" Jake said laughing.
"What's your first impression?" Han Xiao asked.
Jake's grin widened as he launched into a lively discussion about Di su su's vibrant personality. "Oh, Di su su," he began, his tone filled with fondness. "She's a firecracker, that's for sure. Always full of energy, with a laugh that could light up a room. But watch out, she's got a mean streak too, especially when it comes to sparring with Li Ya Lin."
Han Xiao nodded in agreement, recalling the fierce battles he had witnessed between Di su su and Li Ya Lin. "Ah yes, those two certainly know how to put on a show," he remarked, a hint of admiration in his voice. "It's like watching a cat fight, each with their own unique style."
Jake couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of his encounter with Di su su, especially the part where he playfully smacked her.
"Speaking of Di su su, did I mention that I gave her a little love tap?" he quipped, unable to contain his laughter. "I think it may have turned her on a bit. It turned me on a bit too.... Who knew she was into that kind of thing?
Will she be complaining to the HR department? I just got here." Jake said thinking hard.
Han Xiao raised an eyebrow, a bemused expression crossing his features. "I don't think there's an HR department here, Jake," he remarked dryly, shaking his head in disbelief. "But let's try to keep the workplace antics to a minimum, shall we?" Despite his admonishment, there was a twinkle of amusement in his eyes, indicating that he was not entirely displeased with Jake's irreverent behavior.
"Yeah sure." Jake replied.
After their playful banter subsided, Jake's expression shifted to one of seriousness as he turned to Han Xiao with a solemn look. "Hey, on a more serious note," he began, his tone devoid of its usual levity. "What's the plan with the Germinal Organization? Are we taking them down or what?"Han Xiao's demeanor mirrored Jake's seriousness as he considered the question. "Yes, we're planning to launch attacks on the Germinal bases near Stardragon first," he replied, his voice grave. "Once we've dealt with those threats, we'll move on to targeting their operations elsewhere."Jake nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the gravity of the situation. "Got it," he replied, his tone more subdued than usual. "Sounds like we've got our work cut out for us. But hey, at least it'll make for some good stories, right?"Han Xiao couldn't help but crack a small smile at Jake's attempt to lighten the mood, appreciating his friend's ability to find humor even in the darkest of circumstances. "That's one way to look at it," he agreed, his voice tinged with amusement. "But let's not forget the stakes here. Lives are on the line, and we need to take this seriously."With a shared understanding of the task ahead, Jake and Han Xiao exchanged a nod before turning their attention to the preparations for the upcoming mission. Though their methods may differ, they both understood the importance of their mission and were determined to see it through to the end, no matter the cost.
I hope everybody enjoyed it....
